I agree, that quote is great! "the Seven Year Itch" has so many quoteable moments. Fantastic movie, that is!

What is your favorite film noir? I like so many! But my favorites are "Mildred Pierce" with Joan Crawford, "Laura" with Gene Tierney, and "The Postman Always Rings Twice" with Lana Turner.

Recently I have heard that the movie "It Started With Eve" is one to watch. So, I wanted to buy it on DVD and came across the Deanna Durbin sweetheart pack on DVD. I bought it, but I really don't know much about her! However, she looks interesting. I would appreciate any information or opinions on her. What movies or songs do people like of hers? Hopefully I will get to watching her movies soon!

I like "Diamonds Are A girls Best Friend"...both Marilyn's classic pretty pink performance and Jane Russell's court room disguise. Both are just a blast to watch!
-
I've never seen Roman Holiday but I bought it recently, and I hope it is good

My favorite cheery movie is probably "Singin' In The Rain". Who can't smile while watching it?

What are some of your favorite actor/actress quotes (movie quotes don't count!)? Here are some of mine:
" I don't want to make money. I just want to be wonderful."-Marilyn Monroe
"Dream as if you'll live forever. Live as if you'll die today." -James Dean
"The gratification comes in the doing, not in the results."-James Dean
"There is no way to be truly great in this world. We are all impaled on the crook of conditioning. A fish that is in the water has no choice that he is. Genius would have it that we swim in sand. We are fish and we drown."-James Dean
"A career is wonderful thing, but you can't snuggle up to it on a cold night."-Marilyn Monroe
"I'm for the individual as opposed to the corporation. The way it is the individual is the underdog, and with all the things a corporation has going for them the individual comes out banged on her head. The artist is nothing. It's really tragic."-Marilyn Monroe
"People had a habit of looking at me as if I were some kind of mirror instead of a person. They didn't see me, they saw their own lewd thoughts, then they white-masked themselves by calling me the lewd one."-Marilyn Monroe
"I restore myself when I'm alone. "-Marilyn Monroe
"I don't mind making jokes, but I don't want to look like one."-Marilyn Monroe
"I never go out unless I look like Joan Crawford the movie star. If you want to see the girl next door, go next door."-Joan Crawford
"Attempt the impossible in order to improve your work. "-Bette Davis
"I have been uncompromising, peppery, intractable, monomaniacal, tactless, volatile, and ofttimes disagreeable... I suppose I'm larger than life. "-Bette Davis
"Love is not enough. It must be the foundation, the cornerstone-but not the complete structure. It is much too pliable, too yielding."-Bette Davis
"The best time I ever had with Joan Crawford was when I pushed her down the stairs in Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?"-Bette Davis
"Why am I so good at playing bitches? I think it's because I'm not a ****. Maybe that's why Miss Crawford always plays ladies."-Bette Davis
"I love playing bitches. There's a lot of **** in every woman - a lot in every man."-Joan Crawford
"Life, is not a having and a getting, but a being and a becoming."-Myrna Loy

1. Gentlemen Prefer Blondes
2. Sunset Boulevard
3. The Women
4. Casablanca
5. Top Hat
6. Peyton Place
7. Mildred Peirce
8. Bringing Up Baby
9. Desk Set
10. White Christmas
This is my top 10 list for today...however, it is always different day to day....the more classics I see the more it switches. I change favorites more than I do underwear...oh, classic movies are amazing!
-
Oh wow...good question. I would choose "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes". However, I am torn between most Marilyn Movies. However..."The Women" with Joan Crawford is also tempting. Grrr this island is mean! But if I HAVE to choose just one, I might as well have "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes"...because singing along to Marilyn and Jane Russell would make that island one hoppin' place!

I agree...I have made the unfortunate mistake of looking at the "ET" time of a movie and not translating it to my central time. I joined in to "Christmas In Connecticut" an hour late...and I had been looking forward for that one. I was very sad indeed.
PLEASE TCM...I don't want to miss a movie again due to my own stupid mistake. -
Like crispycomment, I have only seen commercials for The Essentials. But I must admit, the supposed celebrity impressions makes me want to watch it. Peter Bogdonovich reminds me of someone who was fired from doing historical biogrophies so he sticks with talking about classic movies instead. So hearing that he has a personality catches my attention for sure! Yay for TE!
