  1. "Top Hat" is a love affair and dandy musical rolled into one movie. It has purpose (man pursues woman) and mistaken identity (woman thinks this man is married to her best friend). They are definitely attracted to each other .. but the woman must show she has her "own moxie" and will not be overwhelmed by the male. Love their dancing .. on and off the floor!
  2. The Lubitsch touch is a delight .. the movie moves along nicely with fun innuendos popping up .. one after another. The garter .. the gun .. the zipper scenes are a hoot! Paulette shooting herself was a "work of illusion" in itself .. but Alfred's (Maurice Chevalier) reaction is so smooth. When the gun is turned on him & fired and he searches his chest for the "hit"... all laughs break loose. This is entertainment at it's best!
  3. "Rose Marie" is a Winner in many fields: male/female banter, read between the lines, enjoy the sexy dance (it would not be allowed after "pre-code"), cheer for the couple to find each other.
  4. This movie definitely takes you "out of your daily life". It's wonderful and has a fun and feel happy mode. The pre-code aspect adds an extra spark to the film!
