1) What do you notice about the interaction between the characters in these two scenes? Please give specific examples. What I noticed were their body language interaction with one another. There are limited eye contact that she provides to him. In the second scene, it appeared that he felt pity for her towards the end of the singing act due to being interrupted. As much as she made minimal contact, it appeared that she wanted to remain strong. There were flirtation occurring in the first scene as well between them.
2) If you have seen either or both of these actors in other films or television shows, please share your perceptions about them. There is good chemistry on how they interact with one another. I view them as being well balanced for films and compliment one another.
3) What do these clips tell you about the male/female relationships as they are depicted in the films during this era? What norms might you expect are supported under the Hollywood Film Code? There's a clear view on how women are perceived. In the second scene when she was singing, there was no respect for her and it was obvious that she pushed by another singer that was well dressed. The other woman was able to take the stage and gather people's attention.
