  1. I was reading a biographical article on Edmund Gwenn & came across information that his brother Arthur Chesney was also an actor. All that I have been able to find out about him is that he was the 1st of three husbands of Estelle Winwood. If anyone has any info on films he might have been in, I would appreciate that or any other sources of info on him. Thank You
  2. Yes, WEHO as it is referred to, was incorporated in 1984 . I have lived here since 1980. Thank goodness for rent control, my rent has only gone up $200.00 in the 15 years since I moved from a one bedroom to a two bedroom / two bath on the same street. The building I live in was used for the outside scenes - street, entrance to pool area as well as pool area & front of Betty Davis's apartment in her 1953 Academy Award nominated film, The Star. In the film she lived in a one bedroom apartment, interior shots done at the studio, but they used the outside of a "studio" apartment ! The building was built by one of the Studios to house " new stars & starletts" around 1946-47. There are several apartment buildings next door & on the block that were built for the same reason. I am between Sunset & Santa Monica Blvds at the base of Laurel Canyon. I assume the local theater in San Francisco you are referring to is the famous Castro Theater. W.P.
  3. Tuesday April 18th 2006 is the 100th Anniversary of The Great San Francisco Earthquake & Fire. I am surprised and disappointed that Robert Osborne & Turner Classic Movie Channel is not having some kind of remenbrance. Especially Jeanette MacDonald & Clark Gable's Classic 1936 film ! W.P. in West Hollywood
  4. I would like to know the name of a character actress that has been in hundreds. maybe thousands of Movies ! She was tall, svelte, always looked like the perfect society matron. She always played the non speaking guest at a party or maybe just a few words. She was in movies of the 30's, 40's & I think both TV & movies as well in the 50's, 60's & possibly 70's. She seemed to be in the background or with a very small speaking part. I once heard about 30 years ago that she held the record for appearances on stage & screen. I just saw her this afternoon in "It Happened One Night". She actually had a speaking part, she was the receptionist / secretary to the newspaper editor that was Clark Gable's boss. I would like to find out her name & any biography / info about her !! Thank You.
