They were married from 1990-1999 when he died. Ruth Gordon died in 1985. Did you get a chance to see Marian in Dedication of The Stuff of Dreams
-
I never knew her, no I am actually a relative of Marian Seldes, his second wife, who is primarily a stage actress (she won a Tony for her performance in A Delicate Balance). Gar did however talk of Ruth Gordon quite a bit, and she does sound like she was a hoot. If you haven't seen it yet, you should check out Ruth Gordon's guest starring performance on Taxi. It was released as part of the first season collection

I do remember that, but it is a very good book

Oh thank you very much for reminding me of Born Yesterday. It really should be on there, and considering that Garson Kanin is a relative of mine it's relatively embarassing to forget. That said, yes Casablanca was indeed a play called Everybody Comes to Rick's by Murray Bennet and Joan Alison, that never made it to Broadway

What Star would you like to see a month devoted to?

I don't know honestly but Melvyn Douglass sure doesn't get too much credit and he made some great movies. But I would just love a month of Thelma Ritter movies... I just adore her Frank Sinatra or Woody Allen or Dustin Hoffman or Rosalind Russell would be good too -
personally I CAN'T STAND Kim Novak, which doesn't help my enjoyment of Pal Joey
-
My vote would have to go to anything starring Alice Fay

sorry for my delay in responding to your reply, yes I would very much like to discuss these actors and films
