  1. Only those two movies. I think Tom Hanks and Sally Field would do so well guest hosting TCM together. Perhaps another movie together as well.
  2. Speaking of cracking wise, the quote is above your head. About movies, etc; "Sometimes you feel like a nut. Sometimes you don't." Remember the candy bar jingle? I think our mood at the moment plays a big role. Here is a newer version of the classic commercial:
  3. There is a pause icon on the bottom-left of the screen with the live feed. You can also move the blue line under the movie image. I only have my tablet just now, or I would do a screen capture. You can rewind and forward with the blue line. That isn't obvious. I have an Amazon tablet with Google Play slipped in. (They would rather I didn't) I only use Watch TCM when I read of someone having trouble. I use the Opera browser in desktop mode and Watch TCM just now tested okay. (Amazon Fire Tablet 10 inch) The blue line shows the movie progress. All the player functions go away after a few seconds. I have to tap my screen to get them back. That is normal so you can enjoy the movie uncluttered. The player could be improved. My tablet is very basic and Watch TCM streams fine. Moving Watch TCM to another location should not make a difference. I don't have issues with the primary TCM site.
  4. Which makes for good Noir, right? 😊
  5. I'm confused. I didn't think Prime had anything for free, unless it was their IMDb channel with ads. My brother has Prime mostly for the free 2-day shipping. He also uses the video and music. So far, I cannot justify the additional cost.
  6. Where's the rest of this photograph? 😮
  7. Well Princess, my hearing is a little sloppy. Matches my vision now. The laugh track gets in the way and the sound is mushy. I have a boxed set with all but the reunion show. I have more than one PBS. They show the program just once a week. I think it is also on Acorn TV. If you like Judi Dench, A Fine Romance is great. I have only found it on DVD. You might find some episodes on YouTube. Someday I will drop my cable television to just the broadcast channels (sorry TCM) and rotate these other streamers. It does not look like there will be a replacement to FilmStruck. EDIT: Here is one of many comparisons of BritBox and Acorn TV. https://www.iheartbritishtv.com/should-i-get-britbox-or-acorn-tv/ As Time Goes By is on BritBox.
  8. I only have cable television and that is too expensive. I do business with Amazon without their Prime service. I can wait a week for my order to come. I think there will be a lot of these less that $10/month services to come. I am very interested in the pending Disney+. I am not alone. I'm a fan of A Fine Romance and As Time Goes By. I have the DVDs, but the audio is awful. So I watch As Time Goes By on PBS sometimes.
  9. "I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy."
  10. I do hope the NEW Lion King is good.
  11. The Simpson's is another story. They now belong to Disney and Disney+. See post above. I say some of this because it makes me wonder. I think TCM may focus even more on what they have the rights to. More rumors suggest Netflix will loose some important programs and income. The new HBO Max will rely on the channels owned by WarnerMedia. According to Cord Cutters News: HBO-Warner Brothers-New Line-DC Entertainment-CNN-TNT-TBS-truTV-The CW-Turner Classic Movies-Cartoon Network-Adult Swim-Crunchyroll-Rooter Teeth-Looney Tunes … and more. Well, it isn't 1969 anymore.
  12. I have not seen many of the Peanuts movies. The rumor mill claims Apple TV+ has rights to all the Peanuts library. New stuff is coming. Snoopy is going to the moon. "One small step for a dog. One giant leap for dog-kind."
  13. I agree about Babs as a singer. TCM doesn't show Yentl enough.
  14. This plays on TCM, Monday (7/22). My 62nd birthday. On the day I was born in '57, "(Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear," was the #1 song. So TCM is close enough by playing Jailhouse Rock, but not Loving You, where my song comes from.
  15. I have a niece and nephew SpeedRacer5's age. They watch Home Alone every Christmas. They don't own it, but stream it. So what word fits if it isn't classic? TGAM? Turner Golden Age Movies? Yuk! I listen to music from World War II. That is the name of the channel. I enjoy older music and older movies. Not because they are old exactly, just that they are better. As for 1985, Back To The Future is THE movie, only because it travels back to 1955, 2 years before I was born. Most of my favorite movies are older than me. if you wanna talk 1984, there is Gremlins. There is this one too. Still can't find the title.
  16. I do hope you are better. Cognac is good for sore throat and/or cough. Honest. This sequence from Victor/Victoria comes to mind: Victoria: I know this is going to sound crazy, but I don't know if I'm even gonna be able to *sleep*, I'm so tired. Toddy: I'll get you a cognac. Victoria: That'll help me sleep? Toddy: No, but it makes staying awake a hell of a lot more fun. Take Good Care!
  17. Okay, two things: I changed my user name to The Keeper, but didn't change my avatar. I didn't have enough characters to have Michael Rennie (The Keeper) as my user name. My connection is to The Keeper, not Michael Rennie's movies. I also know and like Michael Rennie as The Sandman from Batman. I say this only because Tom considered me odd in a different thread. I had a third conversation with Xfinity/Comcast. Long story. The end result is I am keeping TCM. Good for another year, but the cost increased. Naturally.
  18. I will eventually watch it here: https://archive.org/details/The.Day.The.Earth.Stood.Still1951
  19. That isn't the case for me. I have been able to get the "Digital Preferred" for an extra $10/month. That is no longer available. I now have "Digital Starter." So I dropped from 220 channels to 140. I am in the 2nd tier above basic. So, I am curious to know where this is. It is so unlike Xfinity/Comcast. Even when my cable was analog (82 channels) TCM was not an option. By now, I don't care. I cannot afford to keep TCM. Cutting the TV cord means an even greater sacrifice in channels, without any savings. My TV/Internet package is for 2 years and $141/month.
  20. I sadly speak MS Windows well. Mac OS. Not enough. Linux. Very weak. Speaking good music is the best! I lovingly speak 33, 45 and 78 RPM.
