  1. I love Murder, She Wrote. It is on right now. There might be other channels, but I know she is on: (1) WGN America - (2) COZI - (3) Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. I too am fond of the early episodes with Tom Bosley.
  2. Time to update for 2019: http://summer.tcm.com/
  3. When I was a young one in the 1960s, it was obviously before home video. I didn't complain, but would now. Watching a movie with commercials makes no sense if there is an "uncut and commercial free" option. I would not want to watch It's A Wonderful Life with commercials.
  4. I would not walk across the street to a movie theater, but that is me. I have no desire to watch Star Wars on TCM. I would watch It's A Wonderful Life on TCM. I believe TopBilled has been making a valid point here. The Wizard Of Oz has played on TCM. Worth watching even though it has shown for decades on TV in the past. Watching The Sound Of Music on network television is silly.
  5. The movies tonight on MEET CUTES seem to be growing in popularity on TCM. I am fond of the three movies in the middle. The 8PM and 4:30AM, not as much. It is interesting how five really good films are grouped together.
  6. My post did not go here. It was not meant to be 100% serious either. I was only talking about radio and the music played. As for movies on TCM, if the required fee is within reason, any movie should be available to play.
  7. Naturally, but it was cute too. I was posting here and watching/listening to the movie. In contrast, I changed the channel quick with GLORY. So I appreciate TCM playing FRIENDLY PERSUASION, just for me. 😃
  8. This didn't feel like a war movie. I enjoyed it.
  9. I don't think so. Both are very good movies. THE PHILADELPHIA STORY should play more and give HIGH SOCIETY a rest. Look at me, armchair TCM programmer.
  10. Snug Underwear! I can! How we consumers rent movies/video has new rules. (1) Pay a monthly fee. Watch all you want. Streaming, of course. (2) Pay by the each to watch one movie. Also streaming. It does amaze me how both pricing models survive. This film is available to stream in 4K. Look it up on the "Just Watch" site. Rent or buy it in 4K. Buying it doesn't mean you really own it. You have the right to watch it again and again. You may have restrictions on device compatibility. So Fedya, this liberal guy sees change. As this might apply to TCM, they could pay a fee to show/broadcast one movie, one time. I am still using my tablet for this and it takes forever. Time for a nap.
  11. In a different thread, I made a comparison to radio. Back in the real DJ days, the records were played. No one ever looked at the label. Considering the age of a lot of these movies, especially ones that pretty much only show on TCM, would it not make sense to rent it out and not let it gather dust? Classic movie fans should not suffer because license owners are greedy.
  12. Well Fedya, your point is different from my point. I don't think anyone says, "You can't play that," when it comes to radio. My point was meant to be just a little funny. In my day it was BMI, ASCAP and SESAC. I was never involved with that element of radio. I know fees were paid. I just pushed buttons in automated radio. Decades ago. Records and tape. I was done with radio before CDs. So if TCM could play anything they want for a fee (monthly) it would be more like radio. That is my point/comparison.
  13. So ... On Sunday, I watched the Indy 500. Then, some Murder, She Wrote marathon. Then the Memorial Day celebration on PBS. Just sayin'. I completely agree with Sepiatone.
  14. I am a fan, but you almost have to agree, it is heavy in rotation.
  15. Buy or rent (including 4K)! Not sure why it needs to play on TCM. I do see the point in asking why not. These movie rights owners are greedy hoarders. (Glad music on radio doesn't work this way)
  16. I remember Heathkit. I built one and it didn't work. Not handy with a soldering iron. We built the following in high school electronics. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_American_Five#Miniature_tubes Some joker decided to sabotage it, and we smoked a little pot. Pot: Potentiometer. Variable resistor. Volume control. My takeaway from HS electronics was the naughty little rhyme for resistor color codes. Uh Oh! I am so off-topic.
  17. I went looking for Lawrence's avatar image on IMDb. Amazon took it over and it is nothing more than an overloaded calling card for them. If you want to talk annoying, IMDb is now the biggest pain ever. I enjoyed Vincent Price's narration in Michael Jackson's "Thriller."
  18. I recently had surgery and am housebound. Doing all my computing with my tablet. Supposed to keep my leg elevated above my heart. Typing with just one finger. Love predictive text. It sometimes has a mind of its own. So hamradio, don't be smoking a little pot, eh? Only someone who knows, in this case, "breadboard" is not a kitchen item, will get it. Watching plenty of TV.
  19. Good Morning Vietnam. Forrest Gump. Even More American Grafitti.
  20. LawrenceA recently created a SUTS schedule for Michael Rennie. I was much impressed, as if it was for me. Maybe, maybe not. Either way, it was a nice gesture.
  21. How sad. Why would anyone be so shallow? You seem to hang out a lot in the "I Just Watched" section. Your posts are frequent. Last time I looked, this is a message board devoted to movies. How can your posts be a bad thing? I use to be on a Apple (Mac) forum. I had no trouble bashing the way the company is run. At the time, I was a Mac user. My complaints were my own. You should hear me complain about Microsoft Windows. I've been forced out of more than one forum. Once people are against you, it is hard to fix. I refuse to kiss up. To be completely honest, I am upset and offended, if what you're saying is correct. People need to treat others the way they want to be treated!
  22. I watched both of these, perhaps for the first time, start to finish. Gave them my full attention. Very enjoyable. With The Glass Bottom Boat, I couldn't help but think the Director could have been Blake Edwards.
