  1. Maybe my use of mainstream is incorrect. The companies above are affordable and for everyone. That does not describe Apple very well.
  2. Yes, Tim Cook's Apple. They are not mainstream. Always a cut above, with prices to match. TCM is a cut above, for a very discriminating audience. Tim would keep TCM profitable and never compromise quality. Large companies don't care about that. I don't feel TCM will disappear. Anything not showing profit could go away.
  3. I'm just waiting for one shoe to drop, then the other. I may sound like an alarmist, but change is inevitable here at TCM-land. If you think nobody cared before, you can be sure about it now. I am only willing to put up with a certain amount of change from AT&T regarding TCM. I care not if they have $170 Billion in debt. That is far from being my problem. I would like to see a forced buyout of the Turner properties, by someone who still cares. Laugh if you want. Apple.
  4. I am reading posts on a cord cutting site that claim TCM will have ads between movies starting this summer, and the TCM wine club is over. Just a couple of people giving this news, so I don't really know about credibility. AT&T has billions in debt and that seems to be all that matters. No one is showing this information, just saying it is from a WarnerMedia news conference from early this year.
  5. I really enjoyed, on page two of this thread, how LawrenceA assembled a 24 hour list for Michael Rennie.
  6. I was watching Ride Vaquero on my television. When it looked incorrect, I used my computer and Watch TCM to create the screenshot. http://forums.tcm.com/topic/258964-tcm-and-aspect-ratio/?do=findComment&comment=1986832
  7. Well Dargo, people who want to live in California, simply haven't been to Oregon. I could go full circle to Klamath Falls, Oregon, where my Great Grand Daddy had over 900 acres of farm land. That was at the start of the 1900s. So you've never heard of K-Falls? How about Crater Lake?
  8. I have a screen shot of Ride Vaquero in the "TCM and aspect ratio" thread. It looks expanded to fill my 16:9 computer screen. I cannot make a direct link to the post from April 13, and include the image. Taken directly from Watch TCM's live feed on my computer using a full screen shot from the Chrome browser. I will say again, there are a lot of 4:3 programs I watch on a regular basis. If my TV settings, or cable box were wrong, Jessica Fletcher (Murder, She Wrote) would look fat. She looks great for 480i.
  9. Not funny TopBilled. Guess you live someplace else.
  10. I live in Santa Rosa, California. It is questionable as to being lovely. It is an extension of the SF Bay Area. I want out!!!
  11. Why does that sound familiar? Even before AT&T, DirecTV had TCM in all packages. Dish charges more, unless you get their Flex pack. It is an extra with Sling TV, but the most popular of streaming services include TCM. In the Weed, California area, no I'm not making that up, TCM is still in a basic package. It is possible Spectrum/Charter in Southern Oregon has TCM in a lower priced package as well.
  12. Until they get digitized to a solid state computer drive.
  13. This use to belong to Robin Williams: https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/1100-Wall-Rd-Napa-CA-94558/129661227_zpid/?fullpage=true This one, Robert Conrad:
  14. I pay for a higher tier package that includes TCM. I have Xfinity/Comcast. The tier includes many channels. So if I'm paying extra for TCM, it is very little. An extra $10 for at least 30 more channels. I keep repeating my feelings about TCM as a stand-alone service, Starz style. If I flap my yap long enough, it just may happen.🤣
  15. I might ask the same question regarding how much sales are and/or profits. CNN makes money from selling ads. TCM does not. So these are the ads, as so many have already said. I have no idea what TCM was like in the past. I have been a customer to TCM for more than 5 years and less than 10 years. I'm really not sure. In 1994, I was on a 36-channel cable system and we had AMC. You could still hook the little black wire directly to the TV. Plan on TCM being different 25 years from now (2044!).
  16. I too was a bit curious about Markoff. Also, has CaveGirl gone MIA as well? Maybe they made a love connection. Not sure about caves in NY.
  17. Full disclosure. I cheated. Asking my search engine for Canadian movies, came this interesting title: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/two_lovers_and_a_bear/
  18. I posted this a week ago, and no one really got upset. It was in the newer films bashing thread. I was pointing out how TCM programs. (70% of programming is from the 30s/40s/50s.) I am in a 12-step program to reduce my TCM intake. AT&T and TCM are on notice. I am seeing other channels. All this stuff TCM does between movies is making money. Making for more fans. It's all good. AT&T has to be delighted that Turner Cla$$ic Movies is looking good in the ledgers. I am having skin cancer surgery in two weeks. So TopBilled must be right. I've worried too much. And YES, there are a million other things to worry about.
