  1. Okay, I have no idea who she is. That means I don't recognize any of the titles. But, I think it is exciting to see you jump into the programming mode. Why would someone complain?
  2. I prefer nature programs on PBS. I watched the Disney nature movies on TCM recently. Enjoyed them, even one I'd seen before. I wonder if the launch of Disney+ will impact what Disney Vault programs get to show on TCM?
  3. Xfinity is have a Watch-A-Thon as well. DTV is giving away something it now owns. TCM is all I need. No HBO/Cinemax/Showtime/TMC.
  4. Directly above this General Discussions section: http://forums.tcm.com/forum/152-tcm-backlot-local-chapters/
  5. How about some Rennie/Crain Noir? (Dangerous Crossing) I know, SUTS doesn't have Noir Alley. Save for later ......
  6. How sweet it is!!! I think SUTS and 31 Days should be considered for TCM Program Challenges too. LawrenceA makes it look as easy as falling off a log. I used this image recently. Michael never looked better. THANKS GUYS!
  7. I looked up Michael Rennie on Rotten Tomatoes, and well, movies they rated only came to 11. The math turned out to be about 19 hours. Could be other stars that don't have enough titles, or movies that TCM could get.
  8. Thanks TopBilled for the links. I watched all of them. I used the closed caption option. They were done well. Learned a lot about Anderson Cooper. Anyone complaining about Anderson Cooper is more than likely displaying personal displeasure with no factual evidence to back it up.
  9. Yes, Lauren Bacall had a gorgeous pair of legs. I recently was willing to agree with TopBilled. I still say the majority of this thread has nothing to do with Anderson Cooper on TCM. I did not watch, so I haven't a clue. It has more to do with slapping around Anderson Cooper's character.
  10. I'm willing to agree with you TopBilled. On the political side, this song is for Princess of Tap. There is a country version by Mark Wills, but I love Peter, Paul, and Mary.
  11. I may have contributed to that, reporting the two threads. I also suggested they move to Off Topics.
  12. Was "Goodbye Earl" too extreme? This is one of many in the same category. Country Music was still true music.
  13. For the record, when you've agitated Dargo, a bunch of hornets can't be far behind. They are waiting for you in Off Topic Chit-Chat. Please do not clog this part of the forum with comments that don't belong. Hopefully, Mods will move it for you.
  14. This probably belongs in the Car thread, but I couldn't resist. Car record changer in a nice looking ride.
  15. I had video disc players instead of a VCR for a long time. My cable company was still 12 channels on the dial, with The Movie Channel as the only premium channel, and it was just one channel. I could rent some CED discs, but LaserDiscs were in a different city. As times change, I still like physical media.
  16. Well Mister Gantry, I watched The Jerk at a video store and they had it playing on LaserDisc. It was an early version of the technology and the film was processed in CAV, which means 30 minutes per side. CLV could yield 60 minutes per side. I would have to say RV with Robin Williams. The emergency brake on the RV didn't work, and the results made me laugh out of control. While I know it changes, I really like your Elmer Gantry LawrenceA. Also like how you use text top and bottom. My favorite Burt Lancaster is Airport.
  17. From IMDb: Runtime: 121 min | 125 min (special edition) TCM says: 5:00 PM B/W - 121 m TV-PG Closed Captions Star Wars: A New Hope (1977) Synopsis: Dir: George Lucas Cast: Harrison Ford , Carrie Fisher , Mark Hamill . (I'm guessing they got the B/W version at a huge discount!)
  18. "Inside Daisy Clover" is not on my favorite list. I like how it ends instead of how it could have ended.
  19. I've owned both the old CED video disc system and LaserDisc. None of my discs were anything but pan and scan. That was probably okay, since our TV was a 19 inch CRT.
  20. I like the July schedule. Someone has been looking at the TCM Programming Challenges, past and present. I don't really care about Star Wars. Seems a shame if the cost is really so high compared to other films. I remember working in the biz when Showtime played Star Wars for the first time. I don't know what year it was, but Showtime played it 4 times in one month. I've seen the movie more than once. That is enough. Music is very good. Acting is blah. Raiders Of The Lost Ark is superior.
