  1. Well Dargo, I sent a little note to FETV, and they "may have good news for me soon." I do not have MeTV. It was a sub-channel here in the SF Bay Area. I don't have Antenna TV either. The only really good retro channel we have is Cozi.

When TCM is not showing something I want to see at that particular time, I sort of stare at the remote wondering what to do. Then I do the "death scroll." Should I switch to Dish?

About this thread, just explain to CaveGirl, in this case, I am the dummy.

I love that movie and particularly Jack Carson!

My mind drifted to the idea of what The Lady Eve would have been like with Jack Carson and Doris Day.

Okay, I know, this has nothing to do with stockings, I mean stalkings.

Mamie was always my favorite of the Marilyn Monroe types. Unlike Marilyn or Jayne Mansfield who played it naive and innocent. There was nothing innocent about Mamie, she was sexy and seductive and she knew it and used it.

Careful, you could poke someone's eye out with those.

  4. Nobody is streaming Ride The Pink Horse, according to JustWatch. Criterion does have it on DVD/Blu-ray.

Like Dargo, I know Robert Young from TV. The voice is unmistakable. I didn't know Agnes Moorehead, Samantha's Mom, was an actress until TCM.

I can handle most veggies, even from a can. In moderation.

I wonder what would happen if The Lady In The Lake was redone in Dolby Surround, with Robert Montgomery's voice in the back, and all other voices in the front.

  5. So TopBilled is also an authority on daytime soaps?

My Grandma loved them too, including General Hospital on ABC.

Yep, I would watch too. Once the World stopped Turning and the Light stopped Guiding, I was finished.

The ladies on the Spanish Novelas love to show off everything. I'm okay with that.

  6. I disclose not being a Noir fan yet. Mainly, I don't understand it. I do love watching Eddie Muller's views on the films. I am crazy over the way he does the lighting on his set. It is so not how TV works. He has no back lighting. But it works, and even if I don't know Noir, the look is classic mystery. I think the other hosts could experiment with having the lighting mostly on the face.

Eddie does so much more for me than the other hosts. He digs deep. The 2 minutes or so from the other hosts is just data. Eddie does it with feeling.

No matter what, Eddie Muller is my TCM hero. I would love to see a full 30 minute program from Eddie about Noir, especially for people trying to get a better understanding.

  7. I watched "Sweet November" last night, just not from the beginning. I had watched it before, again not from the start. I always think of Anthony as a singer, then maybe an actor. Sandy is amazing for me. After the film, Alicia mentioned how she died much too soon. It is a movie I'd watch again, maybe next time from the start.

Love that song and I could qualify since I CAN cook!

Actually I love Una, as she was hilarious in BOF with her little shrieking sounds and how she glides around rooms, but she is also a great actress being from the Abbey Theatre and all. I still think Dargo would not be dating her though, since he tends to be somewhat superficial in spite of all his other fine qualities, and only likes girls like Ava and Yvonne Craig, ya know.

I think your song picking is superlative, but not as sure about your matchmaking skills.

Speaking of fun laughs in music, my favorite album is the "Louie Louie" compilation with Black Flag and even the USC Marching Band versions, so I shall look of the Ukelele Orchestra title.

Name your two out of three, before considering consummation.

P.S. Yes, to the Britney query.

I love Doris Day, and this movie was recently on TCM.

I started laughing as it made me think of this thread.

I didn't see your reply until now. The forum missed alerting me.

I'll bet you can sing, "I Feel Pretty."

I'm sincerely interested in what is driving these negative views?   What is there to be afraid of?

Just look at what AT&T has done to the pricing at Direct TV Now. Prices start at $50/month. All the way up to $135/month. They seem to think dropping in HBO or Cinemax is worth paying for.

  10. It is unfortunate the movies we watch on TCM, all depends on fees. I suspect the movies we see the most are the most affordable ones. I've heard others here say, "No TCM won't play that. It would cost too much."

I would like to see TCM do exactly what Starz does. EXACTLY!

Channels that play live on cable and satellite, and on demand streaming.

I want more choices, and AT&T wants more money. Win Win.

Agreed. UGH, I can't stand Billy Crystal in anything. Something about him always rubs me the wrong way. His movie career to me is like one of those burps you get which brings up stomach bile before it goes back down.

As a person, I think he's okay. I mean, in interviews and in his personal life. Fine. Seems to be alright. But grating on screen.

This is Billy Crystal best scene for me:

    LOL

Look Tom! There are TWO things in this world I know for certain are true.

One is that whenever Ben says the word "actor", he sounds like that talking duck on those insurance commercials.

(...oh, and the second one is that in general, clowns are NOT all that scary!!!) ;)

    LOL

There is a Boston Legal episode that reveals James Spader's character Alan Shore has a fear of clowns.

I am on your side Dargo:

Thank you very much! Didn't know about the video archive and hearing the commentary I missed out on made my day.

Cool! Interesting how Eddie's comments are so well regarded. That says a lot for his talents. I watched the DOA comments from Eddie on my tablet. The screen was dark and I had to raise the volume rather high. I think the lighting around Eddie, or the lack of it, is intentional and interesting.

More and more people on this forum seem to call Canada home. TCM may want to step up their game with movie rights. Or they can continue to ruffle feathers.

  14. My Roku did the same thing. I had to put in a new code, even though it did not look like the Watch TCM app updated. Got the very same blank screen with no option of providers. Yep, BAD TCM!

EDIT: Roku Express and Roku Streaming Stick. Both get the blank menu with no options.

Amazon Fire TV Stick gave me trouble too. Did not get primary list of providers. Had to scroll all the way to the bottom for Xfinity. Did log in and all seems okay.

  15. Try logging into Watch TCM using the link at the top left on this site. Best way is a desktop computer and browser. Attempt to play a movie and it should take you to the log in with your credentials screen. Click the "View All TV Service Providers."

There are people here in the General Discussions section who have a streaming service. I use Comcast cable.

Here is a link to an amusing and useful thread:
