I am hoping this is the place to go for help. A few years ago I watched an old movie, possibly on TCM but can't be sure. I don't know any of the actors names or the name of the movie. The movie started somewhere in Europe, possibly France. I remember that there was a burglar that stumbled across a man beating his wife and saved her. He was a Matre D at one of the best restaurants in town and she was married to a guy that owned a cruise ship line. She ended up going back to the US. The male lead then went to the US and got a job as a Matre D in the best restaurant in NYC in the hopes that she would come in.
If anyone knows the name of the movie I would love to find out. it was a great movie and would love to watch it again.
