Yes Columbia 1953 i will have to check if it played before,I watched Naked Alibi 2 weeks ago,it never played on TCM ,Graham is superb in it.

I presume she is the equivalent of Robert Osborne (he has made a few films) I guess. but he did ok as a host!😉 i think she was good with Eddie,she is not an historian and Mueller is not as well but he is knowledgeable.You do not need Jeanine Basinger to have a conversation for 5 minutes, a very good articulated fan can do it also . Delany was there as a fan that's all.

Gloria Grahame died on october 5th 1981 so i guess the Noir Alley of the weekend of Glass Wall is for the 40th anniversary,I think Delany hosted a week if not more.She is not a film star now but then TCM could have asked people who knew Grahame well and are alive like her son Timothy still alive at 73,whatever... the budget is gone anyway...

She was a host 2 or 3 years ago,nobody complained why she was there.She looks great so what? As for Eddie 'falling,'for her, he surely knows she plays for the other team..She will be back for The Glass Wall in 2 weeks so more eye candy.If the Gloria Grahame thing is so important they could have flown in Peter Turner from the UK (Grahame last boyfriend for several years) but TCM will not do it,they petered out their budget on lousy graphics and bad other things.

THE GREEKS HAD A WORD FOR THEM 1932 aka 3 Broadway Girls since 1936 The Samuel Goldwyn Cie Directed by Lowell Sherman Joan Blondell( top billed) Ina Claire Madge Evans David Manners Lowell Sherman Good pre-code comedy,all the actresses are very good, Ina Claire steals the show though.Evans is unusually good.Adapted from the stage play,remade a few times and better known as How To Marry a Millionnaire.Look quick for Betty Grable as a hatcheck girl. Goldwyn failed to renew the copyright ( usually $4 then)movie retitled in 36 in public domain since.Copies floating around are from poor to good quality.79 minutes 7/10

THE DESERT HAWK 1950 Universal Directed by Frederick De Cordova Richard Greene Yvonne De Carlo Rock Hudson Jackie Gleason.George Macready De Carlo looks fantastic in Technicolor in her Arabian outfits. A swashbuckling story filmed in the desert. Greene passed himself as a prince,in a pre-arranged marriage,Greene marry De Carlo the same night , After the wedding night De Carlo does her impression of Vivien Leigh in GWTW i.e waking up in the morning .Greene has disappeared ( who would ?) De Carlo she now knows she was tricked (and deflowered!), so everybody is looking for Greene who is already a wanted bandit.Hudson is 5th billed, Gleason is ok but quite lean. George Macready is the frustrated groom and of course the super villain About 78 minutes. 6.5/10

The Texan 1930 Paramount Directed by John Cromwell Gary Cooper Fay Wray,This film was considered lost for almost 80years. You can see it remastered on cable now may be youtube. A Very good western a bit different of what was done then in the western genre. Cooper must be close to 6 foot '8 with his boots on as he towered over everybody, he has such a lanky shape. Great copy 79 minutes . For the era 7.5 /10

WARPATH 1951 Paramount Directed by Byron Haskin Edmond O'Brien Dean Jagger Polly Bergen Better than average western for the period,a lot of action in this cavalry -revenge themed film.Nice scenery of Montana in color.95 minutes 7/10

THE 39 STEPS 1959 UK Rank Films Directed by Ralph Thomas Kenneth More Taina Elg with excellent support cast of UK comedians .Not totally a remake of Hitchcock's film. Beautifully shot in Scotland by Ernest Steward I did not know Eastmancolor could look so good. Lots of action with K More doing most of the stunts himself. Kenneth More was a great actor, every film between 1952 till 1962 are good films . A very enjoyable movie 93 minutes 8/10

Warners did the financing through the theatrical release.Warners does not have the habit to let go any copyrights,if it ended up with Republic it is probably because William Cagney did not bother to renew his copyrights for his films and as for Bugles a clause probably stopped Warners to claim one.
I just looked at Republic Pictures at Wikipedia it is very detailed and you will read about the byzantine trail for the movie rights they also mention several Warners films from the 40's & 50's that were in litigation then,interesting.

Yes, she's aged very well. If she's had work done it's very good. I'm guessing good genetics and tasteful plastic surgery. She also has no kids and is wealthy and successful so probably not much for her to worry about. That can really age you. She is a perfect 10 for me for a long time.

BUGLES in the AFTERNOON 1952 Directed by Roy Rowland A William Cagney Production dist by Warner Bros Ray Milland is the only real name Not an expensive supporting cast Forrest Tucker Barton McLane George Reeves Very good western the best one of the various ones i have seen by Milland. the animosity between 2 officers leading to Little Big Horn a love triangle is also very much part of the screenplay.They used several shots from They died with their boots on' owned by Warners.On the subject of Warners i was expecting their name as Milland did several with them but right after A William Cagney Production appeared and my heart sank. Cagney productions were all cheap looking-the ones i have seen anyway -they were all black and white and there was no money on the screen.This one is an exception: in color and not too bad looking,Warners was probably footing the bill for William ,they also provided the footage from the Flynn movie to save money.I think all of the William Cagney Production movies are in the public domain,but i guess Warners probably holds this one but it was NEVER showed on TCM though. 87minutes 7/10

PLEASE MURDER ME ! 1956 GROSS_KRASNE PROD.Distributed by DCA Directed by Peter Godfrey Raymond Burr Angela Lansbury John Dehner. Ultra cheap film noir B movie.I suppose after paying the two leads they had nothing left for anything else...ok film with a Double Indemnity flavor.For a change Burr is not the heavy but a ....defense criminal lawyer! The print i have just seen was not of great quality. This film is in public domain.Apparently a restored version was done for dvd in 2020 by a pd company.78 minutes 6.5/ 10

STAR in The DUST 1956 Universal Directed by Charles Haas. John Agar Richard Boone Mamie Van Doren Colleen Gray .Fine support cast: Paul Fix Harry Morgan Leif Erickson James Gleason.Clint Eastwood appears un billed,has 3 or 4 lines.Standard fare,a gang wants to liberate a convicted criminal just before his hanging.Second billed Boone does not have a lot of screen time.Same for Van Doren in Technicolor should have been eye candy alas no..,she is clothed up to her neck.The movie is typical 50's western but why i will rate it lower than 6 is the soundtrack is so annoying and everywhere 'when they talk,when they fight,it is so loud the editor was deaf for sure.I like very much the instrumental Classical Gas by Mason Williams-1967_But this is like the few opening bars and it is bad guitar .To top it off there is also a billed actor named ,the music man ,singing 6 effing songs with screen time,Unfortunately he managed to sing all his songs and escaped the shootouts .And guess what happens with the long ending credits.?.. Also 2 sound editors are not credited ...good for them. 80 minutes 5/10

NAKED ALIBI 1954 Universal Directed by Jerry Hopper Sterling Hayden Gloria Grahame Gene Barry. Pretty good film noir memorable for Gloria Grahame,she was so sexy and almost innocent in the role,Barry's role has almost 2 personna. Despite the title there is no nudity or alibis dressed or undressed.Some of the filming was done at the Mexican border for this reason it reminds me of Touch of Evil 1958 for the mexican atmosphere,good cinematography. Grahame is the whole film.7/10. 86 minutes

W.C. FIELDS AND ME 1976 Universal Directed by Arthur Hiller Rod Steiger Valerie Perrine John Marley Jack Cassidy(as John Barrymore) Paul Stewart.Based on the book by Carlotta Monti-she lived with Fields the last 14 years of his life.She has a cameo in the film.Steiger is fantastic as Fields (I do not know if he had to drink 2 quarts of gin per day to get in the Method/acting mood).Valerie Perrine is also very good she was a talented actress she got a few good parts but not many.Now it'.s too late she is struggling with Parkinson's disease for many years.John Marley is also great as the Paramount boss,He had a part in the Godfather again as a movie tycoon but in it his horse lost his head....In the mis 70's there was a series of old Hollywood movies.This one is probably the best,great sets,costumes by Edith Head,great acting unfortunately it did not do well then though.The film has never been released on home video and dvd due to the successful efforts of Fields' grandson, a judge in California, to keep it from public view. It is still in limbo. 8/10 111 minutes

ISLANDS in THE STREAM 1977 Paramount Directed by Franklin J Schaffner. George C. Scott David Hemmings Claire Bloom Gilbert Roland 105 minutes. Adapted from Hemingway's novel of the same title It's a quiet, thoughtful tale of a rich, well-known sculptor (George C. Scott) who has gotten away from the pressures of life on a Caribbean island. Regretting the way he has lived his life, he tries to reach out to his sons and ex-wife. When the world and WWII start to force their way into his life, he finally decides to do something right.Probably one of the best acting role Scott did. The film is in three parts,The segment with Bloom is excellent both are at the top of their game especially when you discover why she is there.
Gilbert Roland looks good at 72 then but i have a feeling most of his part was cut from the final version as there is very little of him in it. Bloom is still alive in her 90's, a beauty and an excellent actress. For the acting 7.5/10 105 minutes

Robinson was very jealous of Raft who was 'close' to Dietrich,this was the only reason,Dietrich was not a hard to get woman but between Edgar and Raft the choice was easy for her.

CORVETTE K 225 Universal 1943 directed by Richard Rosson co directed by Howard Hawks but uncredited. .Hawks is also the producer. Randolph Scott Ella Raines first role (the leading lady no less (she was under contract to Hawks i think) Barry Fitzgerald. The following actors are not credited : in one of his first roles Charles McGraw,Cliff Robertson and on of the 15 roles Robert Mitchum did in his debut movie career(1943) he is unbilled but he has 5 very short lines which is much more than the other films he appeared in the same year. War drama .The importance of the Royal Canadian Navy during the second world war in the Atlantic,The corvettes were very important against the german subs.Good action.99 minutes 7/10

Read it anyway, it was selling for a $100 on Ebay for many years,there was nothing on her then,it is a nice hardcover book.
