What is the best horror movie of the century?

I think the answer is "1", but I'm not sure. I'll have to ask Rich the Math Professor. -
This is so obvious......

The 80s was the 20th Century. -

I think the Moderators have been good about moving the appropriate threads. However, I think several more should be sent to the OFF TOPIC forum, and others should be sent to THE CORNFIELD (see a Twilight Zone episode regarding the cornfield).

Never forget..... there is always "US" and "THEM", and "THEY" and "WE". "THEY" don't like "WE" threads and "WE" don't like "THEY" threads.

Fred C. Dobbs: Why am I elected to go to the village? Why me instead of you and Curtin? Oh, don't think I don't see through that. You two've thrown in against me. The two days I'd be gone would give you plenty of time to discover where my goods are, wouldn't it?

Films That Were Controversial For Their Time

You see? THEM are always "bad". US are always "good". -

There is always an "us" and a "them". Where there is a "them", there is an "us", and where there is an "us" there is a "them". There are us's and them's in every movie story. -

I think liberals and black people all over the country boycotted GONE WITH THE WIND, BIRTH OF A NATION, MAMMY, THE JAZZ SINGER, and several other films. Keep in mind that a lot of people have different opinions. There is not just "good" people and "bad" people, or "them" and "us". -

I'd like to see the NYC Film Festival show MAMMY and all the other Al Jolson films. -
Films That Were Controversial For Their Time
FredCDobbs replied to speedracer5's topic in General Discussions
I would say "lot of films are controversial", but not "all". Also, we need to recognize those that are "controversial" to both conservatives AND liberals. Such as blackface films that are controversial to liberals and black audiences, but not to conservatives, THE MOON IS BLUE is controversial to conservatives but not to liberals. -

BIRTH OF A NATION and TRIUMPH OF THE WILL. -
Yes, I realize that. In fact I am an exception the rule.

In the 1950s I didn't care for actors my own age. Their movies generally weren't too serious and many were musicals (like Debbie Reynolds and other young actresses). One exception was SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS. I didn't care for older female actresses in the 1950s, such as Marilyn Monroe or others like her, since they seemed too old for me. I began liking the girls I saw in old 1930s films that I saw on TV, such as Marian Marsh in SVENGALI, since they were more my age when I was a teenager. She was about 18 in that film, I was 16 when I saw it. Lillian Gish was 22 in BIRTH OF A NATION. Marion Byron was 17 in STEAMBOAT BILL JUNIOR. Ann Shirley was 17 in STEAMBOAT ROUND THE BEND. And the classic old actresses (Bette Davis, Barbara Stanwyck, Joan Crawford) were all much too old... like grandmas.

Kid, I think there was a big mistake in this film.... showing all the bi-planes. I'll bet the German and Japanese military commanders laughed at that, since they had already designed several much-faster single-wing planes, in preparation for attacks on the US and England. Did we really send any of those bi-planes up to fight Japanese Zeros??

Color adjusted.... less yellow.

"There's absolutely no chemistry between Olivier and Monroe in The Prince and the Showgirl." The "chemistry" is between Monroe and the audience.
