Maybe someone else can take my turn.

There could be very solid reasons why TCM doesn't disclose more information about how they lease movies. e.g. the lease may have restrictions related to the disclosure of price, how often one has to show a film during the lease period, if one has to show all movies leases as part of a bundle etc...
NOW: I would love to know more about such things.
I have a feeling it is all very complicated, with a lot of business secrets, so not all companies know what other companies are doing, and with a lot of complex negotiations going on all the time.
Big business can be very complex, with the goal in mind to save money and get the best deal.

Hmm.....
train wreck
no Superman
washed out road??

I thought TCM's motto was "uncut and unedited."
Yes, well, I was making a little joke.

TWILIGHT ZONE FESTIVAL
right now, on SYFY

If you could program a day full of movies that take place on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, what would be on your schedule?
Well, with modern CGI, TCM could add "HAPPY NEW YEAR" signs and banners in the backgrounds of any movie. They could add some signs and decorations to THE CLOCK, such as "Happy New Year 1945".

Some of the big new cruise ships look so top-heavy, I expect one to be turned over by a giant rogue wave some day.
Land is for me.... not high in the air or far out at sea, and not in a mine or cave. Nope, not for me.

TopBilled,
Your idea is an interesting one, but I think it would help to let other people know what you are doing,
and also you might want to provide a helpful occasional index to your different thread titles.
And let's hope 4 or 5 people don't start doing the same thing, or we'll never be able to find anything.

The other.. just say what you see. After you get the first one it'll make sense.
A leg and two birds in a cage.

Celia Johnson and Trevor Howard are doing something many people do at a train station when it's leaving.
Playing the balcony scene from ROMEO AND JULIET?
-
Thanks...well it is all archived here anyway.
And now, INDEXED.

Thanks Fred!
Tomorrow I want to focus on a well-known classic that has a New Year's Eve scene in it. So that means, yes you guessed it, the thread title will have something to do with THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE...
Next time, you need to tell people that YOU ARE CHANGING THE THREAD TITLE FROM DAY TO DAY, so they can look up their old posts on this thread.
-
PREVIOUS TITLES OF THIS THREAD:
Movies that sell out in the end
Is MR. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON sexist?
Tyrannosaurus multiplex
Cars of the stars
Lucy's movie star encounters
Hollywood Christmas pictures
Movies within movies
Best use of Technicolor: not GONE WITH THE WIND?
Classic dialogue and scenes that slipped past the censor
Stars' own favorite films
When you lower your opinion of a film after you read others' reviews

Funny, it seems like yesterday this thread's title was "Is Mr. Smith Goes to Washington Sexist?"
It was.
Apparently TopBilled has been changing the title of this thread every day, so it is difficult to find our old posts and conversations on this thread that had a different title in the past.
-
I hate to admit it, but I think we need another clue......
-
Movies that sell out in the end
Any movie that ends with the protagonist waking up from a dream, revealing that the entire film was a dream, i.e. a hoax.
-
Well, there is a 1934 Zasu Pitts movie titled LOVE BIRDS (1934).

Is MR. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON sexist?

The fact of the matter is that Arthur's character, a woman, knows more about the government and its processes than Stewart, a man.
I think it would be much MORE “sexist” if Arthur had been the bungling, dumb, young Senator, with Stewart as her educated, wise, and astute young assistant.

Here are a bunch of titles from every year. Why don't you find some whose titles we all know.
