No, the animal characters in the animated SONG OF THE SOUTH clip did not just have bad Southern accents.
They were speaking in what was referred to as the "Negro dialect" as evidenced by their use of the expression "gwine" for going to.
That was based on the real, old, antique ethnic Southern black "dialect', just as SERGEANT YORK and his family used the antique "mountain folk" accent from the Appalachian Mountains of the US around the time of WW I.
There is NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT. I spoke my own localized white r e d neck kid Mississippi dialect when I was growing up in that state in the early 1950s, such as with localized phrases like "I'm fixin' to go to town". Whenever we arrived at my grandmother's house, she used to asked if we had "et yet?" If we had not "et" yet, she would fix us some vittles.
In the old days, little black kids would call their mothers "Mammy", while we whites would call our mothers "Momma".

I also liked the water in THE SORCERER’S APPRENTICE. It looked so realistic.

The shadows and lighting effects in THE SORCERER’S APPRENTICE were amazing and very realistic.

Edmund Gwenn is correct. Good work Fred, your thread

I'm going to take a break for a while.
That one was difficult.

It not only shows some of the movies recently aired, but it also now has a 'LIVE'
feature to watch what is on the air now.

...but it seems to me that a lot of cutting went on before it was released or maybe it just doesn't make sense to me alone.
Me too.
It starts out as one movie, but it ends up as a completely different movie.

There was a time when this manner of flap could never have occurred because of a culture of ethics that permeated the arts and the legal environment: When Charlie Chaplin wrote and filmed the Great Dictator, not once did the name "Hitler" occur in the scenario.
Times change.....
Now Hitler hates Hollywood re-makes......

But even if all threads were in ONE forum (instead of sub-forums), the 'view new content' feature would still be useful.
They ARE all in one "forum". It's called the TCM Message Board.

One thing these all have in common is an actor - relatively unknown at the time: Walter Brennan
? ? ?
CORRECT!

I like the 1943 German version of TITANIC. It is a perfect Metaphor for the sinking of Germany near the end of the War.

Time for a hint..?
Hint: We're looking for a location; not a proper name, just a generic location.
A diner, a hamburger joint.

by The Toronto Kid IMDbI remember reading something about where Laurence Olivier criticized Dustin Hoffman during the shooting of Marathon Man because Hoffman was remaining in character outside of shooting. Olivier said something like "It's called acting." Isn't method acting, like when Carrey stayed as Kaufman in Man on the Moon, really sort of "changing" one's personality temporarily rather than really acting as a craft? Isn't is harder to act between "cuts" than it is to stay in character? Should we have more respect for people who can stop on a dime at "cut!" than we should for people who feel the need to "become" a character? Should the performances of method actors be discounted? I say yes.
It doesn’t matter to me which method or style they use, as long as they seem to be the character they are playing.
I always thought Lee J. Cobb was over-acting as a “method” actor in most of his films, such as in “Angry Men” and “Green Mansions”. Brando was great in “Streetcar” and “Waterfront”, but then he made a bunch of very boring movies.... so bad I didn’t even want to see or know his character. I saw parts of a few of those films on TV. His “Godfather” and “Col. Kurtz” were Ok, but they seemed to be more the invention and creation of the director of those films than Brando’s acting style.
Don’t stage actors “go into character” when they go on stage, but they have normal personalities for one or two years when their plays are running but during the hours when they are not actually on stage?

Is this supposed to be a re-make of THE TEN COMMANDMENTS?
Dang, aren't there supposed to be a bunch of Mexicans and Asians in this version?

Sorry, if my post implied you might be an emperor.
Well, sometimes I try as hard as I can, but I have a lot of competition here.

Implying topics like 'what is noir' are bogus isn't the way to do it.
I never implied topics like "what is noir" are bogus. I said new people have new opinions or new people go over the same discussions we've had a million times. I was telling HelenBaby2 that people on the board change out often. A year from now a bunch of new people will be on. She said she seemed more "welcome" here in the past. I've gone through the same thing. Some times more people love me and other times more people hate me.
So, the real question is...... what is noir?

-
Wow, surprised by Fred's harsh message. In fact Fred has been telling us for years to treat new members kindly so we don't scare them away. Implying topics like 'what is noir' are bogus isn't the way to do it.
I think my post was completely misunderstood by several people.
HelenBaby2 said she didn't seem to be wanted here any more, and I was trying to cheer her up and let her know that the board changes and goes in cycles with new people posting all the time and old people leaving. That's all I was trying to do. I wasn't trying to fuss at anyone in particular.
I was just sort of rambling about this and that. It was not a formal EDICT FROM THE EMPEROR.
No need to flame me.
Wait for a better reason, ok?
I have forgiven everyone who has fussed at me about what I posted earlier.
