  1. Metz, you are tricky! That certainly didn't look like Johnny and Joan to me, but you are right. Let's see if someone else can guess the name of the movie.
  2. Ha, ha, how about a scene from the original 1930s version of ?From Here to Eternity???
  3. Withering Heights was a wonderful movie. Of course Heathcliff was massively obsessed and he needed to be on medications. Cathy was simple minded, greedy, and childish and she was obsessed with money ? someone else?s money, anyone else?s money. She loved Heathcliff as a man, but she wanted the money of the man she married. She kept saying to Heathcliff, ?Go away for a while and get me some money and bring it back to me so we can get married.? Then she didn?t wait long enough! Heathcliff should have dumped her and gotten some nicer girl from the country or the city. He was so handsome he could have gotten hundreds of beautiful girls. But that?s the whole point of the movie. How many of us have been obsessed over women in that very same way. How many women have married someone they didn?t really like, only because he had money. This was a classic film about this COMMON problem in many people?s lives. Gone with the Wind seems to be more liked by Southern people than by Northern people.
  4. Nope, it's Josef von Sternberg. http://us.imdb.com/gallery/mptv/1189/Mptv/1189/18190_0001.jpg?path=pgallery&path_key=von%20Sternberg,%20Josef
  5. Here is a cute picture of her: http://www.viewimages.com/Search.aspx?mid=3289845&epmid=3&partner=Google
  6. >"Autoreanimation"...I like that word. That describes my morning wake up time. Sort of like an 8:00 a.m. boot up routine. In fact, based on the look on my wife's face as she stands over me and frowns at my feeble attempts to claw my way towards consciousness...I think she thinks, "man...that is one half-hearted attempt at autoreanimation...tsk, tsk..." I sort of feel like the Frankenstein monster (when he first comes alive) every morning when I wake up, or, actually, the Bride of Frankenstein. I sort of look puzzled, I look around, then I go ?AAaarrrrrrrrggggg? a few times. I don't like to watch zombie movies because they remind me of me every morning.
  7. Very good! You are correct.
  8. Do a Google "Image" search of her photos and you won't soon forget her.
  9. I think you are right. The man who walked away was the son of the man who spoke the lines. The FATHER (1) of the man who walked away was the son of his own FATHER (2). So FATHER 2, the oldest, is the grandfather of the man who walked away. FATHER 1 is the man who spoke the lines. The man who walked away was FATHER 1's son and FATHER 2's grandson.
  10. Very interesting, thanks for telling us. If that?s the case then maybe my theory about a ?number leak? into the video system was correct. I assume that some type of computerized system does the timing about when the TCM logo bug comes up on the screen. With some kind of malfunction of the system, instead of the bug coming up, one of the timing codes or activation code numbers came up in the form of the number 88103. Things like this happen with my own computer sometimes, when a program fails to come up but some kind of computer code number or message comes up on my screen.
  11. What was the cause of the numbers appearing on our TV screens?
  12. I haven't been watching much TV today because I've been busy, but I've been recording the last three mystery movies, so I'll check the recordings later. With all the electronic numbers flying around in the world today, I guess some were bound to leak out and pollute the airwaves sooner or later. Maybe this is just a case of Global Number Pollution. I have not watched much news today because my sat receiver has been locked on TCM for these movies, so I don't know if we are at war with anyone.. anyone else. I live in a remote area of the southwest and we would not know if a big eastern city or west coast city has been attacked if we don't see it on the news.
  13. No it's not. Looks boring to me.
  14. ?Son, this is very important..... whenever you see the number 88103 on your TV screen, you are to tell all your friends, ?I love Jane Fonda movies?.?
  15. Yours is the 10th. I?m glad the secret message was a number and not the name ?Willoughby?. http://tzone.the-croc.com/tzeplist/willoughby.html
  16. >Somebody find a way to turn 88103 into 911 and we can start our own conspiracy theory website. 88103 is also a zip code for addresses in the town of Eilat, Israel. Will that help your project? Back in the 1950s we used to blame weird things like this on "the Russians".
  17. Ok, thanks. I woke up this morning realizing that TCM might not have been responsible for the number codes being flashed on the screen last night, so I changed some of my earlier posts. The codes could be on the tapes of the films, or they could be sent out (somehow) by cable and satellite companies. Let us know when you find out what caused them. Do you know if they are on the original tapes you aired last night?
  18. yancy, let me know if you seen any more today. I wasn't recording the fillm last night when I saw one, but it flashed on the screen just like the ones you saw. They might be some kind of code designed to keep people from pirating videos off of TCM, but that's just a guess.
  19. Hey, TCM Programmer, why are you flashing numbers codes in the middle of the TV screen during the showing of movies tonight? They are very distracting. I just saw one on Captains Courageous.
  20. Several people have seen 5 digit number codes flashed on the middle of the screen during the showing of several movies tonight. What are they? What are they for?
  21. Hey, they just flashed another code on Captains Courageous. Maybe someone should call the FCC and Homeland Defense and report these codes. I don't know what they are for.
