That looks like Ricardo Cortez and Sarah Hayden. I'll guess "Hat, Coat, and Glove". It's a courtroom drama. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0025222/

What is this MOVIE? Been bugging me for 50 years!

Yes, I think you are right. This might not be the exact film the person is looking for, but here's the "looking in the window" scene that scared the heck out of me when I was a kid.... -
Ok, you guessed it, end of contest. It's your turn now.

I never would have found the movie if Bronxgirl48 had not named the actors. Metz, I found your souce of photos. That guy has collected thousands of very rare movie photos. May I suggest that you use only those photos where some of the actors can be identified? That way, if we can't actually remember the movie, maybe we can do some research and find it. Also, we can have a multiple contest with each photo, one would be for some of us to try to identify the actors, while others try to identify the movie.

Yes, a very interesting movie. How about "Love Letters"? Have you seen them in that?

That was a Chester Morris "Boston ****" movie, but the title has been removed from the schedule list.

That sounds very similar to the situation with the girl looking in the round window of the strange large spherical metal object in the moors in ?The Man From Planet X? and seeing a weird face staring back at her. It was cold outside and there was fog in the moors. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0043778/ -

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Monsters_Are_Due_on_Maple_Street ?It is mid-evening in September and the street is full of playing children and adults talking. A shadow passes overhead and a loud roar is heard, accompanied by a flash of light. Later, after it has gone dark, the residents of Maple Street find that the telephones no longer work, and there is no power. They gather together in the street to discuss the matter. Steve Brand decides to go into town and see what is happening, but his car will not start and he decides to walk instead. Tommy, a young boy from the neighborhood, pleads with him not to go. He is sure that the outages are part of an alien invasion?just as he has read in books and comics. Furthermore, he says, most of these invasions are preceded by the infiltration of aliens who look human. Naturally no one takes him seriously, but soon the first signs of doubt appear. Meanwhile another resident, Les Goodman, tries unsuccessfully to start his car. He gets out and begins to walk back towards the other residents when the car starts all by itself. The bizarre behavior of his car makes Les the object of immediate suspicion. The residents begin to discuss his late nights spent standing in the garden looking up at the sky. Les claims to be an insomniac. His problem becomes worse when the lights in his house come on, and the rest of the neighborhood remains in the dark. Suspicion then suddenly switches to Steve when he tries to defuse the situation and prevent it from becoming a witch-hunt. Charlie, one of the loudest and most aggressive residents, pressures Steve about his hobby building a radio that no one has ever seen. A man is seen walking along Maple Street through the dark, towards the gathered crowd. Panic begins to build and Charlie grabs a shotgun and kills him. When the crowd reaches the fallen man, they realize that it is Pete Van Horn. Suddenly the lights in Charlie's house come on and he panics, realizing how it looks. He is now the subject of the suspicion. He makes a run for his house while the other residents begin to chase him and throw stones. Terrified, Charlie attempts to deflect suspicion onto Tommy, the boy who originally brought up the idea of alien infiltration. Lights begin turn on and off in different houses, lawn mowers and cars start up for no apparent reason. A riot begins and the hysterical residents smash windows, fight and switch blame from one person to another with little justification. The episode ends with two Martian observers watching the rioting on Maple Street and discussing how easy it was to create paranoia and panic, and let the people of Earth destroy themselves?one place at a time. One of them tells the other: "Understand the procedure now? Just stop a few of their machines...throw them into darkness for a few hours and then sit back and watch the pattern. They pick the most dangerous enemy they can find...and it's themselves." CLOSING NARRATION: The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, prejudices, to be found only in the minds of men. For the record: prejudices can kill, and suspicion can destroy, and the thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all of its own, for the children and the children yet unborn. And the pity of it is... that these things cannot be confined... to The Twilight Zone.? -
>If the info is in the search engine for the site...does this mean TCM has it for viewing? Or is it just a bibliography of sorts? I think its a bibliogrphy.

Thanks, metz. I was trying to remember the famous film I saw him in where he looked so surprised. "It's a Wonderful Life" is the one. He also played one of the pod people, Uncle Ira, in "Invasion of the Body Snatchers".

Yo, takoma. Welcome aboard the ship. -
There are only 4 of us on the board right now. A short time ago, Bartlett2 and I were the only people on the board. Now we have enough people for a good game of bridge.

Similar outfit, but not quite the same: http://www.reelclassics.com/Actresses/Ginger/images9/ginger_majorminor_suitcase.jpg Anyway, metz and I are old guys, so we are a little more familiar with Judy Canova than you young whippersnappers are.
-
We have mended fences, and you just mended another one when you gave me that Andy Gump cigar. I knew it was Judy Canova right from the start, because I used to see her films. While searching for titles I misjudged her hat in the poster of the first movie I named, then I found another copy of the photo you posted and the correct title of the film that photo of yours was from. When people are still trying to guess the movie, please don?t post the answer until you give them some time to make the proper guess and time to do some research to be sure their guess is the correct one. Thanks for the cigar.
-
I got it right, and I want my cigar. I made the change before you posted the movie title, but the TCM board wouldn?t take it. I clicked on ?Edit? for nearly 10 minutes. No fair you ?guessing? guessing, because you already know the answer. This is why no one pays any attention to your ?trivia? crap.

Hey, where is my cigar?
