Ridley Scott Says Web is Killing Cinema
FredCDobbs replied to MissGoddess's topic in Films and Filmmakers
He also said, ""I think movies are getting dumber, actually. Where it used to be 50/50, now it's 3% good, 97% stupid." That means Hollywood is killing cinema. I haven't been to a movie theater in years. But if they showed classic old 35 mm prints on a big screen, I'd go once a week or more. -

This board crashed last week and everyone is having trouble getting the "Reply" feature to work. I don't know why TCM doesn't show Psycho. Maybe they can't get the rights to it, but I don't know.

ZERO! We don't need another Jane Fonda thread. Your obsessive fixation on her has caused enough trouble. Drop it. Forget it. Move on to some other topic, please.

This one's easy. It can be looked up on Google.

metz says everything is fine with Netscape, but I use IE and I'm not going to download Netscape just for this board. I wonder.... suppose someone at TCM originally decided to use a board program that was more favorable toward Netscape, but not toward IE. Suppose the two systems are actually fighting each other? Several years ago my Windows Media Player, my Real Player, and my Quick Time player had a big fight with each other inside my computer. They would do all kinds of nasty things trying to kill each other. They ALL wanted to be my main media player, and they were DESIGNED to fight with each other and take each other down and place themselves at the top of my media player list. Every now and then one of them would ask me to make them my main media player. I really wanted all three to be of equal value, but they kept asking me to decide that they were my MAIN media player.

Thanks. I made the changes and I added your name to the credits for the Dogville titles. If you want to take my list and use it, go ahead. -

help name 2 very different films from the early to mid 1960's
FredCDobbs replied to jim1956's topic in Information, Please!
I don't know the names of your films, but James Cagney was being tortured by the Nazis when the allies bombed the building he was in and killed everyone, and he was laughing as the bombs were falling. 13 Rue Madeleine http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0038279/plotsummary -
>Southern Gothic script that includes suicide, alcoholism, promiscuity, murder, and a child's nightmares. It's a good thing you don't have those things up there in New York!

I think we've really made a big mistake in this country by abolishing the movie code, the original TV code, and the NAB code. It used to be that low class people did low class things and they lived in the low class part of town. Now quite a lot of adults and teenagers do low class things, and it's partly due to the vulgarity and profanity in the movies. There is more cussin' in the movies, on cable TV, and broadcast TV, than I hear in real life. The only cussin' I've heard in real life during the past 10 or so years came from me and my neighbor. The local people where I live no don't cuss. Then I go to a movie or turn on regular TV, and there everybody is cussin'. I don't like it. If I want low class stuff in my life, I can move to a Mexican border town. Message was edited by: FredCDobbs
