The Dick Van Dyke Show had an episode called "Who and Where Was Antonio Stradivarius?" where Rob has temporary amnesia.

The first shows that came to my mind was Monk and The Rifleman. "Mr. Monk Bumps His Head" and "Outlaw's Shoes." Monk is turned into a handyman by some lonely redneck woman and poor Lucas McCain doesn't even recognize his own son. He thinks he's a gunfighter.

Amnesia can be a quick fix for anyone suffering from writer's block. I think it works if you don't think about it too hard. I love Random Harvest, but I find it hard to believe he would forget his wife completely and try to marry someone else. Makes for a good story, though. I've seen the amnesia thing on TV a lot more.

I would have to say Paul Newman, because Cool Hand Luke is more than him just being "cool" and beating the authority at their own game. When his mother dies it breaks him. Steve McQueen is a great actor, but I can't see him pulling those heart-wrenching scenes.

Hard one. I can't see anyone else but Sigourney playing that part. Karen Allen can be tough sometimes.

A couple days ago I watched Psycho. The next night I decided to watch Psycho 2. Nothing can top the original, of course, but this movie isn't bad. I thought it started off really well. You pity Norman Bates and really wish people would leave him alone. Someone (more than one someone) is trying to make him crazy again. The first mistake he made was going back to the old house.
But somewhere along the way the movie veered.
SPOILER ALERT
His mother wasn't really his mother. Really?! The climax was kinda dumb, too. He loses his mind, understandably, and Vera Miles' daughter dresses up as his mother so he will listen to her. Norman ends up killing his "real" mother at the end. I liked the movie better when he was rehabilitated and doing his best, despite the town against his being there. The movie needed more Vera Miles.
