Was hoping that TCM would step up and try to work with Comcast but that doesn't look like that's going to happen. Do the powers that be have and input? Their channel is now part of a Sports & "entertainment"package - it's the only movie channel with 9 or 11 sports channels. I'm fortunate to be able to afford TCM...have had it since it began.
The other demographic that's losing TCM (can't afford it & limited cable access), are nursing homes, hospitals and ALFs. I work for mobile eye care practice that services these facilities-most residents watch TCM. My mother, a loyal viewer, is in a nursing home..TCM has been on 24/7. I visit her every night - since Comcast cancelled TCM, she's been more more restless and depressed -I know it sounds dramatic ...for some, it's the only stimulation they have..positve- it's soothing- these folks can relate to movies that were part of their lives. The staff has noticed similar changes in other residents as well. I've contacted the facility director several times regarding this issue...no dice. Asked if I could pay for a streaming device (not sure how to set up) said I need special permission...
It's a shame that these loyal viewers who were there for TCM 25 years ago, no longer can afford or have access to their channel.
