Donovan is one of my all time faves
Back in the vinyl days, (here comes my hyperbole again) everybody seemed to have a copy of DONOVAN'S GREATEST HITS!

Well, as I dropped off long before it ended I had to look up it's running time
Too bad. It's a great film.

I've never been an admirer of Ryan O'Neal's acting abilities but I will concede he pulled off the title role of BARRY LYNDON very well.
Ditto; I think the character was dubious at best, so O'NEAL (though too old) was still perfectly cast.

I remember when it came out a big deal was made about Kubrick's use of "natural lighting", and not much else. And while I did find it visually striking, not much else about it was remarkable.
Yes, but that was hardly the only thing "remarkable" about it... many commented also on its length!

It would have been a good two hour movie; not great, but good. At 187 minutes, way, way too long
I think that's why I like it... long motionless sequences ...

I don't think I agree, but his casting in this film is perfection. He is the perfect cad.

Please forgive my bad taste, but I immediately thought of GRAVE OF THE VAMPIRE (1972).
All 3 of the principles have died MICHAEL PATAKI, LYNN PETERS, and most recently WILLIAM SMITH.
The movie is trash and seventies sleaze Horror at its cheesiest. Lots of fun for the 70s Horror fan!

But let's not over-generalize the long-time posters either. I've been posting here for over ten years and I have always registered strong opinions. But I balance it and offer up constructive criticism.
I suppose then you've been subject to constructive criticism? I don't know that people would respond to criticism well, however it is characterized.

This is a very late winter or Autumn song to me somehow. Works in March as well as October.

I love that whole record. Speaking of Crosby, Stills, and Nash, this one is probably my sentimental favorite:

A couple of (now politically incorrect*, "sexist," and "cringeworthy") tunes vocalized by Jack Jones . . .
I have a collection of his hits. I like JACK JONES and those tunes.

Chill, Prez.
Not at all. Emboldened, eh? Very well. Not no fan of TINY TIM but I'll own that too if I need to. I responded to your remark. You are the pot calling the kettle black.

Everybody's a critic.
Start with yourself. You're the critic. I just don't agree they have it over TINY.

Tiny Tim ain't got nothin' on Bob 'n Ray!
TINY's version with GARY LAWRENCE is a wonderful piece of music, that BOB & RAY was only funny for a moment... and my mother used to listen to BOB & RAY (I think I've still got some vinyl of theirs... like Mary Backstage Noble Wife...)

Jeff Beck and Heavy Friends:
JEFF BECK has some great records... and artists he worked with! That being said Bolero is the most popular and least among RAVEL's work (he disliked it himself). "Beck's Bolero" ain't no better.

Vlado Perlemuter Plays Ravel (1962) : I was delighted to find this on CD. I was introduced to RAVEL piano music from a vinyl box set of these recordings. Before I owned this on CD, I found the 1978 revisit to the RAVEL piano oeuvre (it's better and 1962 is perfection). RAVEL VLADO interpretations (no one else's) top my list of greatest music recordings.

I think this film requires a commitment to be prepared to sit through it. Then, it may be hypnotic.
