  1. Absolutely my favorite Western. It is not accurate. Despite its problems, THE RED BADGE OF COURAGE (1951) is still worthwhile. MRS. MINIVER (1942) is very watchable and a terrific lesson on Allied propaganda and the horrors British civilians faced during the blitz.
  2. In the first 1979 Rolling Stone Record Guide, the critic reviewing LENNON's albums when discussing Plastic Ono Band pointed out that the "primal scream" dated the record (then only 8 years old). Yet whoever that critic was gave Plastic Ono Band five stars. The last Rolling Stone Album Guide (as it now styles itself...2005?) also awarded the album five stars. For what it's worth. It's also worth pointing out that nobody ever liked Sometime In New York City... both LENNON and McCARTNEY took major swipes for solo albums. Sgt Pepper rates higher in the later book than in the first. I've always found music criticism interesting, but never compelling. Perhaps informative.
  3. And I thought you didn't care what any critic had to say...
  4. Listening now. I have long loved that as a favorite BEATLES. I bought a copy on vinyl of RARITIES around 1980 mainly to own it (not having that 45). Maybe I love it because it's their worst song.
  5. Sounds fair. Back in the day I had all of PAUL's records through McCARTNEY 2 ( when I gave up ) and not Wildlife. But when I transitioned also to CD, I ensured copies of three of PAUL's: McCartney Ram Band On The Run... I'm listening to Ram now.
  6. I would not describe the Hammer Horrors as "remakes" but I suppose they are... in a way. They don't hold up too well for me, but I always found them hokey.
  7. Blah blah blah. Nice tone. Yes, it's my opinion. I am sorry to confuse you regarding my re-use of your word "ranks" or "rates". Yes, any opinion I express is my own. PLASTIC ONO BAND is one of the greatest records in any category. We agree, though, on one point. There is no accounting for taste.
  8. I quoted each portion of Millstone's post I was responding to.
  9. Yeah, okay, and? NME and Melody Maker are and were British magazines... I wrote in the "UK"... Ratings? I expressed my opinion, no "rankings" or "ratings" other than my own. My favorite solo BEATLES record, easily. Probably my favorite BEATLES...
  10. In the UK... it originally did so-so on USA charts but peaked at #3 USA nearly a year after initial release... PLASTIC ONO BAND ranks as one of the greatest Rock records by any artist.
  11. My favorite bad taste sleazy 1970s Horror stars WILLIAM SMITH... GRAVE OF THE VAMPIRE.
  12. This will always remind me of the boardwalk :
  13. THE BEACH BOYS Smiley Smile / Wild Honey
  14. Long sigh... deep breath... nobody wears pearls anymore... "Standin' On The Corner" is not only SO correct, as in nature, it's practically biological. And it's a classic of American Pop.
