While I am really pretty knowledgeable about “classic” (older) films, I am incredibly behind when it comes to knowledge of music and television, I have a lot to learn on both those fronts.
I chose those two records because they're also "garage rock" like THE STANDELLS. Let me know if you hate or love 'em!

gotta thank Dargo for dropping this one (I'd never heard of it, I'm sorry I was born in 78) it's great!
You are not THAT young
not to have heard "Dirty Water". If you love Rock n' Roll you have a lot of catching up to do. Here, I'll getcha started:

RICK IS 21 Back when I was listening to a lot of music from this era, I wrote reviews for the RICK NELSON fan club (based in UK) and remember that I was (and remain) impressed by this return to form particularly after More Songs...

Back when I listened to vinyl, I did not listen to RICKY NELSON's 5th album (this one). Nowadays, I'm in the mood for smooth pop rock cocktail lounge music and listen to it the most of his records. I think I still have most of his records on vinyl.

JOHNNY EAGER
That's the one I think of for TAYLOR that I like. It's also one of the few films I like where LANA TURNER is a centerpiece.

Robert Taylor ! Man, being kissed by him would be like being kissed by one of those wooden South American statues in the hotel lobby ! I've NEVER understood why he was such a big star. His acting is always strictly play-by-rote, and his handsomeness is of the same type as Lana Turner's beauty - he also looks like he's made out of wax.
I never understood the ROBERT TAYLOR appeal either. He's in one or two movies I think I like, but generally, meh.

Joan is in I Saw What You Did the way Janet Leigh was in Psycho. (If you get my point.)
Well we know JANET and JOAN got the point!

I watched Remember My Name for about the first half hour so, not feeling like doing anything else at
that time of the night. Talk about slow moving. This thing makes a glacier seem speedy. Maybe it got
better in the second half, but what I saw of it was just another spouse stalker movie and one that
was pretty unoriginal at that. Not underground, just another flick with bona fide movie stars that
never made much of an impact. I did get a kick out of the hair style of a young Jeff Goldblum. I'm sorry
I missed Bubba. Even he eventually grew to be friends with Virgil Tibbs after a rough beginning.
Can't wait to see The Glory Stompers tonight. Who can resist a title like that. Hey mister, you got some
of that glory? You do. Well we're goin' take your glory and stomp on it, stomp it down to the ground
************.
I admit that if it's ANTHONY PERKINS, I don't want to watch. Like LAURENCE HARVEY (who should remain nameless in certain quarters).

When I saw this was on tonight, for a brief, fleeting moment I said that's a Joan Crawford flick. Then I wondered why I thought that. Is she even in it?
Yes. The lady with the pile of hair, black cocktail dress, and jewels jewels jewels 'round her neck.
I remembered the clingy tear at registration harpy, but lime slicin' knife poke? THAT I had forgotten... and laughed!!! Needless to say I watched most and remembered it's completely innocent sleaziness. Terrible. Loved it!

I really wish they had let EDDIE MULLER host NEO NOIR NIGHT by himself.
Dig it! It's like entertaining paired with annoying. Or informative paired with distracting. Or Cool paired with really?

The Thrift Store had the DVD of 1776 ('72) for $1.99, I held it up saying, "The TCM Forumers really like this...wonder if I should give it a try?" Then I remembered getting LIL ABNER from the library (because someone here said they loved it) just last week & turning it off within the first 15 minutes. Sometimes my initial instincts are correct
Not necessarily. First, as far as LIL ABNER goes (oh brother). Second, I cannot tell you how disinclined I am to liking MUSICALS at all, and I did not like 1776 at all - for a long time - and have now "matured" enough to focus on performances and I love the performances in that film. I grew to love 1776 . It's like 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY - I hated it for years, though I've owned the soundtrack for over 40 years. Later, I grew to love that movie too.

THE SHOOTIST with John Wayne. His greatest performance.
Back on actors... THE SHOOTIST is probably my favorite JOHN WAYNE film, and I like his films! I'm soft for THE SHOOTIST... RON HOWARD, LAUREN BACALL, and it's his birthday... "what they call false spring..." I love that movie.

am I the only one who thinks Steve McQueen's last film The Hunter was not that bad?
It's not that bad. STEVE McQUEEN did have "star quality" which makes his films often interesting. Personally, I'm hard-pressed to think of a STEVE McQUEEN film I particularly like... oh yeah, THE BLOB! PAPILLON!
