Bing & Rosemary Clooney should have made more movies together -- their voices blend so well!
Not a fan of that movie (though I love MARY WICKES in it) but one thing's for sure - BING and ROSEMARY were superb singers!

Though I think she preferred her coffee a little too hot.
I wanted to use the famous image of GLORIA with LEE MARVIN and the scar on her face... but it'd be removed because of the only source I found displaying it. Oh that sequence is rough!

Definitely an eye magnet, she was heartbreaking in THE BIG HEAT

I think JUNE CHRISTY replaced ANITA O'DAY in STAN KENTON's band in the mid 40s. ^Listening to ANITA O'DAY right now. I love a great Jazz singer.

War of the Worlds tribute was pretty good
Y'mean that TOM CRUISE movie? Mixed bag. Typical of SPEILBERG, that one is filled with powerful images.

So it may not be a shot-for-shot copy.
We can hope! It doesn't look it. To my own surprise, I am interested to see this new WEST SIDE STORY. As great as it is, there are parts of the original film that are... wobbly.

(...but don't worry, another thing you'll soon discover if you stick around here will be that "Dargo is a real jokester" and even perhaps that he's occasionally witty..."occasionally" being the operative word here...although and always still keep in mind my tagline located beneath my handle up there to the left, "An Acquired Taste", and so there are and will always be people who will never acquire it)
Explanation! Also a "pet peeve".

Ricky Nelson
I don't know how "smooth" you are, but I did think of RICK NELSON too. I have most of his albums... on vinyl!

On my PC all I got was a link to that image( I'm supposing) but once clicking on it was informed that I didn't have "permission"
to see it!
I found it googling... and I guess it is not apparent to anyone today. It's gone for me too.

That would have made Coop a grandpa at 28, and Bogey grandpa at 30!
Get out of you own head. It's biology. If you can be "Dad" at 14 you could be "Grandpa" at 28.

Ironically, in both Sabrina and Love in the Afternoon she's playing characters even younger than herself, which means that the age difference between the characters seems, if anything, even greater than that between the actors.
I dislike those two particularly; they could've been her grandfather...

NAME A FILM CHARACTER YOU REGARD AS TRAGIC

I dunno. Being noble is wonderful but hardly joyful. That being said, I see Rick as tragic, as his new beautiful friendship is with Louis... not Ilsa!
