I seem to have noticed a strange pattern among great Hollywood stars that as time goes on, the quality of roles seems to diminish to the point where the previous characters are almost lampooned. For instance, Charlton Heston went from being Moses and Ben Hur to doing the voice-over to Bud-Light commercials. Omar Sharif went from such classics as Lawrence of Arabia and Doctor Zhivago to Top Secret. And Tom Courtney who also starred in Doctor Zhivago to Leonard, Part 6, and Yul Brenner went from the Magnificent Seven to. . . FUZZ !
Now I'm sure that there are innumerable examples for other actors and actresses but those listed above seem to be the most blatant cases. And maybe the trend is reversing. . .Tom Hanks started with the likes of Bosom Buddies and Bachelor Party to Philadelphia and Forrest Gump et al. But he is still relatively young so maybe the pattern will repeat after all. . .
