Newbie here!
Terrorizers (1986)
I've recently began exploring New Taiwanese Cinema -- a movement that I don't know too much about. Edward Yang is one of the key filmmakers from this era and Terrorizers is considered to be one of his most provocative titles. I really enjoyed it. The narrative revolves around three groups of people and how their lives change following a shooting that takes place in their neighborhood. It's an eerily quiet film that progressively becomes more unnerving with each scene. The film has been cited as one of the best representations of the growing uncertainty Taiwan was experiencing due to their shifting political structure at that time. It's certainly an effective film, though I definitely need to rewatch it soon to better absorb everything.
Nice first post, Lemon-Shaped Rock. Informative while concise - my favorite kind.

Did we skip "K"?

The highlight of the month, for me, is that TCM is showing The Werewolf (1956).
Trying to see this movie has been like looking for a needle in a haystack these past 40 years.

You know, I think a one-armed Spencer Tracy beating up bully Ernest Borgnine would qualify as a pretty satisfying retribution scene.

Bummer.
I was a fan from about the age of 12 - I saw him in The Plunderers (the first John Saxon performance I ever saw) and never forgot him because of that one.

The fact there is an all male jury is a flaw in the plot. The young man was on trial for killing his father. Even a not too bright public defender would want a few moms on the jury since they would be a lot more understanding towards a son as it relates to the father \ son relationship (verses the Lee J. Cobb bitter father).
I guess that makes Fonda the mom in the movie.
The other 11 were definitely men from the get go.

I am coming to believe that I am one of the nine people on the planet who truly like this movie. I feel the naive singing adds significantly to the feeling that these are real people in a real situation rather than highly-trained, highly-skilled and highly-paid performers waiting for any opportunity to cast off their costumes, perform their hit number and then duck into a limousine to be driven off into the sunset.
I always feel so bad for King Arthur. Harris looks so damn sad.

My wife once received a letter requiring her to come in for jury duty, but at the time we had a newborn baby - well, about 4 months - and so she pleaded hardship and was let out of it. That was in 1984 though, not 1954.

He has thirty pounds, a mean left and a complete lack of morals.
I see. I miss the days when he was your "esso".
Time marches on, I guess.

I was quite recently blackmailed into agreeing to refer to him in all posts in all forums as: "he who shall not be named" rather than "my insignificant duhther." I never stated that I would not add something to that identifier.
Blackmailed, huh?
Wonder what he has on you.

Wow - picking the best for Harvey is really, really, really hard to do. He is so consistently Harvey in everything he's in.
But, what the heck.....
Best - The Last Temptation of Christ (1988)
Worst - Cop Land (1997) or maybe The Piano (1993)
Next: James Mason

He who shall not be named except to say that it is Capuchin.....
Thanks for identifying him as Capuchin - for a second there I thought you were referring to John McCain.

Aaaahhh - this is awful news. It's always awful news when someone dies, of course - but Regis was such an entertaining personality.
I used to love his appearances on Late Night with David Letterman.
Missing him already.
