His son was, Buck Taylor and appeared in a supporting role for years on Gunsmoke. I did not know this....but it wasn't that hard to find.
Don't think this lets you off the hook, Peebs. If you confirm my answer I'll come up with something. Something.....DIABOLICAL.....HA HA HA HA .....ha....ha.... (hands on hips...head thrown back emoji).

Name the renowned character actor whose career spanned the 1930's to the 90's (over 250 credits) who played in the 1938 Rose Bowl.
Interestingly, his 1st movie credit was in the same year he played in that Rose Bowl.

I've been following this thread and have to say I'm way out of my league here. Peebs and Fausterlitz....you are in A LEAGUE OF YOUR OWN.

I believe you are looking for Ron Howard.
He was in The Andy Griffith Show in the 60's and Laverne and Shirley in the 70's...then followed that by starring in Happy Days.
He was in Wayne's final film THE SHOOTIST (1976).
His brother, Clint Howard, had his own show for a while, Gentle Ben in the 60's. He also showed up regularly in several of his brother's movies.
My favorite film he acted in would probably be AMERICAN GRAFITTI (1973)
I would say my favorite Ron Howard directed film was APOLLO 13 (1995).
I also liked RUSH (2013) and the documentary he did, PAVAROTTI (2019).

Ooh, it's not pretty. Here's the gruesome details from Wiki:
"On May 5, 1968, Dekker was found dead in his Hollywood home by his fiancée, fashion model and future Love Boat creator Jeraldine Saunders. He was naked, kneeling in the bathtub, with a noose tightly wrapped around his neck and looped around the shower curtain rod. He was blindfolded, his wrists were handcuffed, there was a ball gag in his mouth, and two hypodermic needles were inserted in one arm. His body was covered in explicit words and drawings in red lipstick.
Money and camera equipment were missing, but there was no sign of forced entry. Police originally said it was suicide but the deputy coroner found no evidence of foul play nor any indication that he planned to take his life and ruled his death accidental, the result of autoerotic asphyxiation."
Sounds like a scene out of THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATOO.
Umm, no foul play? How does he cover his body with explicit words and drawings, place himself in handcuffs and insert 2...2!!!...needles in his arms? Did he die of asphyxiation or of a drug overdose.
Inquiring minds want to know!

Because you put it on my post. LOL, maybe better placed on your post. It comes across as if you were being somewhat nasty when you put that emoticon on someone's post unless you are genuinely confused by the post.
Relax. Relax.

It is a work in progress. I think I find one, then I follow the lead a little and it goes nowhere. Patience. Patience.
