My first stab at this game. I think Thomas Mitchell died in ONLY ANGELS HAVE WINGS (1939).
If I'm right I'll come up with one. I have one in mind.

Growing up I loved Dorothy Kilgallen on "What's My Line"
But unfortunately, we don't play this game like "What's My Line".
You're not allowed to ask specific questions or to confer with others who may also be trying to answer this question.
But I will refer you back to exactly what I said in the original question.
And I will also reiterate what Lav told you before--
Look back as to how this game is played and carefully review the entire criteria of the question before you try to answer it.
And as you make guesses, I will try to supply more specific hints.
Hint#2--The husband ended his career as the head of television production for one of the golden era studios during the classic TV era.
Of course, he produced westerns, but he also produced a series adapted for TV from a legendary post World War II British film noir, noted for its unique music score.
I would politely and humbly suggest that you overreached with your placing significance on Tony Asher and his contributions to modern rock and roll. He was no more than a footnote in Brian Wilson's incomparable career. There is barely a mention of him in any "Beach Boys" histories or biographies. The only person who gave much merit to his contributions to "Pet Sounds" was Tony Asher himself. Yes, Tony Asher had famous parents....but he most certainly was not.
In addition, nowhere that I could find in either of his parent's bios in IMDb or Wikipedia do I see any reference at all to their son other than that they had one.
Forgive me.....I sincerely don't wish to scold.

No, sorry. Your answer doesn't fit the criteria for this couple.
Hint#1--This couple had a son who was the principal lyricist for one of the most legendary and revered pop/rock American albums of the latter part of the 20th century.
I'm trying. Need more.
Is she on this list?

I'm going to go with Joan Bennett and Walter Wanger. Did I get it?
One of her most notable films would be LITTLE WOMEN (1933) with Katherine Hepburn.
His most notable film was probably CLEOPATRA (1963)
I believe he was credited for bringing Rudolph Valentino to the silver screen.
Taylor and Harrison were in CLEOPATRA and Crosby appeared in GOING HOLLYWOOD (1933)
I was not able to match up Jane Wyman and a Wanger production but his list of films is long so she's gotta be in there someplace. Maybe you can fill in the that blank.
That was hard work.😅

Now you have me interested in this case.
Here's a fascinating article published by the New York Times. It was after Riley's conviction in 1973 (they call him Reilly in the article) and before his conviction was overturned in 1976. The article is dated December 15, 1975:
It is a great story. As I recall, almost everyone thought Reilly was innocent and had been coerced. My client, the jury foreman, obviously voted to convict which is why he got quite agitated when it came up in a conversation once and I learned the hard way not to pursue that again.
Reilly's attorney, Catherine Roraback, was quite famous for defending controversial causes. As your article states, she was lead attorney in Griswold vs. Connecticut which led to the "Right of Privacy" decision by the Supreme Court and she defended the Black Panthers.
The Roraback family is well established in Litchfield County, CT. I knew many of her relatives, as well.
Connecticut is known for some pretty wild murders. This one, the wood chipper murder (great scene in FARGO lifted from that case)and the recent Dulos murder/disappearance/suicide from last year, which is still unsolved.
