The writing mainly. I can't stand a movie without a single quotable line!

So I thought it would be fun to make an evening of all the films (I could think of) whose titles come from lines from Hamlet (the only one missing that I could think of being *Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead* which, being from 1990, is a little too recent for me).

Fun schedule, polecat! I especially like the Hamlet idea-I'm fascinated by the way Shakespeare's word usage permeates our language. And just wanted to say, even though *Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead* was made in the 1990. it's really quite funny--does the play justice (which i think goes back to the 60's) and the cast is excellent.

Another good one. And it's availableon dvd as part of the Marlene Dietrich Glamour Collection from Universal. It's a 5-disc set w/ Morocco, Blonde Venus, The Ddevil is a Woman, Flame of New Orleans and Golden Earrings.
-
It exists-there's just no version w/ English subtitles. Thanks!
-
Quick question--I know we're not allowed to make up a movie, but what if we do a version of a movie that may not exist? I want to include Martin Roumagnac (yes, ok, I'm a little obssessed, at least it's not the uncut Mata Hari) but there is, as far as I know, no version out there that has subtitles.
-
Me too. It's a good moie--lots of fun. And even though the idea of a blonde, blue-eyed Marlene playing a gypsy sound quite ridiculous, it actually works! She's about the gypsiest gypsy ever seen on film...

*Stage Fright*

Marlene's last movie...and she was still playing a woman with a past. OK, it was WAAAY in the past, but still.

Like her co-star in Stage Fright, Jane Wyman? ::ducks missles thrown by Wyman fans:: Dietrich more or less walked away with that picture.

Also, I may have to download parts of the "Burlesque" soundtrack. Christina Aguilera does a really amazing job on "A Guy What Takes His Time"

Great song--great singer. My favorite ablum of hers is Book of Secrets. It's kind of a cool blending of Celtic w/ a sort of gypsy feel.
