  2. Ah, thanks--I thought you meant John Wayne for the first film, which is where I got off-track (since, for reasons not entirely of his own doing, he was unable to serve). Next: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Hint: rhyming character name
  3. When I first saw this photo of singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot, I thought it was Bryan Cranston:
  4. Put them all together, they spell...right answer! πŸ™‚ Nice work, Peebs, and your thread.
  5. Thanks, Peebs! I could also be wrong about Veruca Salt -- that's just what it says in their Wikipedia page. πŸ™‚ Next: Ginger Rogers Bill Cosby Anne Bancroft Diane Keaton Debbie Reynolds (Hint: similar title character)

  7. Each band's name was inspired by characters from a movie? 8. You got it, Peebs! Now all you have to do is explain why "daughter" doesn't rhyme with "laughter." (Hint: I have no idea.) πŸ™‚ Great job, and your turn...
  9. Thanks, Bunny! Not sure which bride to kiss first. A little afraid of the first one... 😬 Next: Gloria Holden Loretta Young Esther Williams Sara Miles Sissy Spacek (Hint: similar title role)

  18. Thanks, Miles! Next: Beatles Song / Film Title Mashup All the answers combine the title of a Beatles song (first half) with the title of a movie (second half). The last word/words of the song match the first word/words of the movie (so there's an overlap). The clue for each example will be the first and last words of the resulting mashup. For example: Got / Dog = Got to Get You Into My Life as a Dog ("Got to Get You Into My Life" + My Life as a Dog). There will probably be multiple possible correct answers in some cases, and I'm happy to count anything that still makes grammatical, if not necessarily logical, sense. (So, Got to Get You Into My Life is Beautiful, for example, would unfortunately NOT count as an answer to Got/ Dog). Good luck + have fun! πŸ™‚ P. S. all mashups below are listed in alphabetical order, not counting "a" and "the" (second word is the basis for alphabetizing in those cases). If you find a valid answer that uses a different second word (i.e. that wouldn't fall in the same alpha order), that's fine. Googling "Beatles song list" may be helpful! 1. All / Afternoon 2. Baby / Mancha 3. A / Blimp 4. Get / Future 5. Fixing / Head 6. A / Lisbon 7. If / Me 8. I'm / Enemy 9. The / Zanzibar 10. The / Dead 11. PS / Dupree 12. Sgt / Outsiders 13. She's / Influence 14. She's / Holidays 15. Tell / Love 16. Ticket / Country 17. Why / Perdition

  22. Yes, that's it! Clooney was also co-nominated for the screenplay of The Ides of March (2011), Gordon for Adam's Rib (1949), and Ustinov for Hot Millions (1969). (Ustinov wasn't Oscar-nominated for the screenplay of Billy Budd, but he did receive a BAFTA nomination.) Great job, Arsan, and it's now your thread. πŸ™‚
  23. Hint: double threat (Oscar-related)
