I think we were both thinking it was directed by Vincent Minelli rather than Robert Z. Leonard.
Duh, you are so right! I was thinking of Liza Minnelli as one of the hosts in That's Entertainment, referencing her infant cameo in the movie, and wrongly made that connection. Thanks for the correction. 🙂

Family members working on the same film?
Yes, Peebs--I was thinking specifically of directors casting their own daughters in films, but your more inclusive definition also makes sense. 🙂
Great job, and your thread...

Hint: Each includes an act by a person or a group of people, many of these near the end of the movie. Considered a movie cliche if used now.
Someone pointedly tears up an important document? (e.g., Kane tearing up his "declaration of principles," Mr. Banks tearing up the children's advertisement for a "perfect nanny," Billy Bob Thorton--and later Catherine Zeta-Jones--tearing up a prenup agreement).
Not sure this is what you're looking for, but I've never seen the other two films. 🙂

Speaking of movie victuals, in Taxi Driver Jodie puts big smear of grape jelly on a piece of bread and then pours a bunch of sugar on
top of it and then has another piece of bread to make a sandwich. I'm passing on that one.
To be honest, I found that moment more disturbing than most of the violence. I just hope she didn't have to do too many takes.

Barry Lyndon -- Ryan O'Neal
Jerry McGuire -- Tom Cruise
Larry Crowne -- Tom Hanks
Harry Dighby in Harry and Walter Go to New York (or Harry 'Rabbit' Angstrom in Rabbit, Run ) -- James Caan
Gary in The Velocity of Gary -- Thomas Jane
Yep, that's it! And thanks for the bonus James Caan example. 🙂
Your suffering has ended! Nice work, Peebs, and back to you...

I've got a few ideas, but they don't really rhyme.
Hi Peebs, sorry you had to work so hard!
It's the character's first names that rhyme, and those are in alphabetical order. And Barry Lyndon is correct. Hopefully that should send you in the right direction! 🙂
