Thanks, Peebs! That sounds like an unexpectedly random (and large) group of guests! Unfortunately, no video of the episode seems to have been preserved. For what it's worth, they did all also appear as Mystery Guests on What's My Line? at some point. Next: Rex Harrison Alec Guinness John Gielgud (TV) Jon Voight (TV) Anthony Hopkins Hint: exalted role

That was lovely, and thanks for sharing. (It took me a while to figure out I had to click on the Reddit "r/lostmedia" link at the bottom.) I especially appreciated that they included a sequence where the witch "disguised" herself as a sweet old lady, which briefly allowed Margaret Hamilton to speak in her natural speaking voice (and also reveal something closer to her real-life personality). But since there was never any breaking of the fourth wall, and she played the role with a good deal of intensity, the concern of some parents at the time that the episode might be too scary for younger kids, while unfortunate, was perhaps understandable. Nice to know the episode still exists. In her Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood appearance, she was explicitly trying to help children overcome their fears by reminding them that the whole thing was make-believe. (She is interviewed as herself, provides some insightful analysis of the witch's character motivations, and then puts on the witch costume only at the end.)

Yes, correct! That's a good guess! And in John Huston's case, "The Dead" was indeed released (to great acclaim) posthumously, but the others were all alive. What I was looking for was that all these directors were over 80 years old when their last films were released (Resnais was is his 90s--his film premiered three weeks before his death). Nice work, Peebs, and your turn. 🙂
