No, he actually does play her dad in Stage Door, and I wasn't at all implying that you were wrong--I just didn't remember that it was him. I do remember the character, though (a wealthy guy who's hoping his daughter will actually fail and give up the whole acting thing). Fwiw, none of these actors looked much like Katharine Hepburn's actual father, Thomas Hepburn:

That's it, Peebs! I didn't realize Hinds and Gwenn had played her father more than once--I actually had different films in mind for the two of them (Little Women and Sylvia Scarlett, respectively). I've seen Stage Door many times, but somehow forgot Hinds was in it. Nice work, and the ball's in your court. 🙂

Hi Peebs, yes: they each acted with another well-known performer, to whom their character bore the same relationship in each film. I enjoyed your "bed" titles, which must have taken some sleuthing to ferret out! Fortunately, the films in my question are mostly much better-known than those you found. They're also listed in chronological order. Another example (although in a lesser-known film) would be Leo G. Carroll. Thus endeth the hints (at least for now)... 🙂

She also dies in Queen Bee (unintentional car crash), and in The Story of Esther Costello (intentional, suicidal car crash). Plus, there's a dream sequence in Sudden Fear where she dies in yet another car crash. A unique and (I think) criminally under-used talent, Ishtar notwithstanding. Her daughter, Jeannie Berlin (unforgettable in Kenneth Lonergan's Margaret) is also a superb and rarely-seen actress.
