Bill Elliott appears today on TCM -
Hi, Miss K. LOL, thought you knew before. I agree, about the festival. Missing it, too. Was looking through this year and last year's program booklets and thinking about how many there I would like to see on the screen. Many more in the booklets than I even remember being on! And defintely a week between! : )

kingrat, I may just take place. The Festival has got me thinking (dreaming) of seeing so many other films on a huge screen, so I may think of it that way when I do it. -

voranis said: "A&E has really changed away from what it originally was." Yes, when they went from their old format of "Arts & Entertainment," they knew they weren't "Arts" any longer and revised it to "The Art of Entertainment." Sad day that was.

Until 2 pm today (or until stock runs out), The Elia Kazan Collection is a Gold Box deal on Amazon. The List price is $199.98, Amazon's price was $139.99, but right now it is only $70.99: http://www.amazon.com/gp/goldbox/ref=cs_top_nav_gb27 This is an 18-DVD set, so that is less than $4 a DVD. Titles: A Letter to Elia (2010), A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (1945), Boomerang! (1947), Gentleman?s Agreement (1947), Pinky (1949), Panic in the Streets (1950), A Streetcar Named Desire (1951), Viva Zapata! (1952), Man on a Tightrope (1953), On the Waterfront (1954), East of Eden (1955), Baby Doll (1956), A Face in the Crowd (1957), Wild River (1960), Splendor in the Grass (1961), and America, America (1963). Note, however, that there are some reports of disc scratching in the box. -
I just noticed something... I was watching Fiddler on the Roof on my HDTV, and no matter how wide it is, I have been spoiled by the Chinese Theater screens! They were huge! And seeing them now on TV is just...just...nothing. I want them to show more classics there...and soon!!!

I agree there should be a surprise salute to him on the final evening of the festival.

How can you forget: Too many black and white movies Too many color movies Too many widescreen movies (for people who have old TVs) Too many 4:3 movies (for people with HDTVs) and Too many months that don't have Garbo as "Star of the Month," a day under" Summer Under the Stars", birthday salute, death day salute, the day she went to the grocery store, etc. ; )

On an evening of Mike Hammer films, it seems like a good topic. In addition to the ones on tonight (Ralph Meeker, Robert Bray, and Mickey Spillane himself), there were also: Biff Elliot and Armand Assante in different versions of "I, the Jury" Darren McGavin, Rob Estes, Kevin Dobson and Stacy Keach on TV (and Brian Keith did a pilot) And on radio there was Larry Haines, George Petrie, and Ted Corsia. My choice is Stacy Keach.

There were at least 2 birthday cards signed by multiple fans that were to be presented to him on the final evening of this year's festival.
