jeneration, you said you didn't understand why widescreen movies don't fill your screen even though they are the same shapes. Technically that isn't correct. That is because films can have different aspect ratios. 4:3, 1.66:1, 1.85:1, 2:20:1,:2.35:1... So, for example, if you have a film like Lawrence of Arabia where you will have black bars at the top and bottom and the picture stretches from side to side, though it is wide like your TV, it is not the same shape as your TV. It is because the image is soooo wide while the vertical remains the same size as other films of different shapes at the same time the horizantal can be slmost double the size of aother widescreen movie.

jeneration, A couple of things... 1. You mentioned having a new flatscreen TV. I am guessing then that it is also an HDTV, much wider than it is tall. The first thing I would suggest is you should see if you are getting TCM HD in your area. The picture will be much better, quality-wise. And if you absolutely must increase your picture to fill your TV, then it least it will be better. 2. I am surprised that if you do have an HDTV that you would react badly to widescreen movies. The old 4:3 ratio for films prior to widescreen may fill your screen from top to bottom, but now you have two big black bars on the left and right. 3. I am also surprised you say they are a sliver on your screen. Certainly, there were a few films that were super-wide screen and they appear thin on a TV, but the majority of widescreen films poseno problem to me. 4. Widescreen isn't about more scenery. It's about more information (e.g., a character's reaction to the main person) and it finally gives a chance for men to be looking at each other in the same picture without knowing for the 4:3 they must have been chest to chest in order to get those two in closeup together and their faces about 3 inches away from each other. 5. I also wanted to mention that "Full Screen" is 4:3, the size of pre-widescreen TVs. It is not a picture that will fill a widescreen TV. That would be letterbox. When you look at the back of DVDs and see it is "Full Screen," it means it will be 4:3. 6. About it ruining the movie experience for you, if you go to a theater for a movie experience, it will be wide screen. You might also want to check your manual to make sure you have set your images correctly.

Love Me or Leave Me is on today, but you have to look closely at the below to see this is a satire from Mad magazine, "Leave Me or Me Leave." Scott Brady is on TCM today -
TKA, just ignore musikone. SInce you are new, you will soon see he seques every conversation into a complaint about the board, with some crazy theory each time, such as the one where he told you the change was done deliberately to keep people guessing. If someone here talked about the sun coming up bright and beautiful this morning, he would likely say, "Well, it was planned by someone who wasn't connected to this new board design." Let's just say that anything that musikone says should never be taken as fact. He just likes to rant and rave, facts be damned....sort of the Donald Trump of this message board. If the film was changed, it is likely that they weren't able to get it at the last moment for any number of reasons...but none of them would be about making you buy a DVD.

I seem to remember a "suicide shake"; though I don't remember what it is. Perhaps no one survives them? Jack, as far as shakes go, there is the Neopolitan, which is vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry in the same shake. You can also get large and extra large. Or if you prefer to have just two flavors together, you can do that. Plus, they have root beer floats. Or you can get an Arnold Palmer, which is tea and lemonade. p.s. -- Just a reminder, I will be bring along copies of the secret menu, so all will know what they can get.

1968B2, I think he knows that. But he is looking for a non-swearing version, which has not come out yet. By the way, The King's Speech also came out on Blu-ray on the 18th, and a lot of stores are issuing a $5 gift card with the purchase. Target does, as does Best Buy. Costco automatically takes $5 off the price. The best of the bunch is Best Buy who is selling it for $19.95 and gives you a $5 BB gift card, so in a way you are actually paying only $14.95.

I was reading some things online and I believe not. However, maybe there will be a version coming. Though, to offer a censored version over something that is actually an important part of the story makes me really mad. F**K F**K F**K F**K ; )

I warned everybody that we would be getting this kind of thing as soon as spring break started. Just have to sit back and wait until it is over and people like the OP are back in school.

William Holden, Randolph Scott ("Randolph Scott!"), and Richard Boone appear tonight in westerns on TCM, so in that vein here are three covers they were on for western comics. You have got to love that "He rustled my heart!" -
Giive it a rest, musikone! We know you are not happy with the board. A lot of us don't like all of the changes, either, but we don't harp on it over and over and over. Knock it off and contribute something more to this board than your petty complaining.

Special Sales of Classic Titles on DVD & Blu-ray

Here's a special that you better grab now because will certainly be altered by Amazon soon. Buy 3 Blu-ray/DVD Disney combo packs and get $20 off. Now here's why you should jump on it: 1. One of the combos they have reduced is Bambi at $12.99 (and Snow White is $17.99, as is Beauty and the Beast). You can combine multiple copies and come under the 3 for $__ rule. I placed an order for Tangled 3D, plus two Bambis, total $33 and some pennies. You could even order just three copies of Bambi and after the discount be paying about $6.66 each, so you can give two away for presents and keep one for yourself. 2. Some of the titles, like Snow White, are going back in the Disney Vault very soon, so get them while you can. 3. Amazon will probably increase some title prices (like Bambi) when they see how great a bargain people are getting. http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=amb_link_355670542_3?ie=UTF8&docId=1000668671&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=hero-quick-promo&pf_rd_r=1K4RN9RSH7T2CYRKMY5Y&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_p=1291838902&pf_rd_i=B001V9LPWQ -
