I hope you willl all be attending the Festival this year starting on the 25th. And for those who will be here the night before, April 24th, there's an exciting event over at the Arclight..."AFI Night at the Movies." Twelve classic movies presented by the star of the film. BUT...
...they will all be showing at the very same time, so you can only choose one!!!
The program starts at 7 PM. Ticket for a movie is $30 and includes soda, popcorn, and an ice cream bar.
Tickets go on sale April 11th at 10 AM at arclightcinema.com. I will bet they will go fast.
Here's your choice of films and the presenter:
In The Heat of The NIght - Sidney Poitier
Blade Runner - Harrison Ford
Easy Rider - Peter Fonda
Ghost - Demi Moore
Misery - Kathy Bates
Moonstruck - Cher
Norma Rae - Sally Field
Pulp Fiction - Samuel L. Jackson
Shrek - Mike Myers
Terms Of Endearment - Shirley MacLaine
The Thing (the remake) - Kurt Russell

I see some sensible replies about the silent film being shown, but no one is discussing the sheer incomprehensibility of the original post. My first thought was that this person is off their medication.

And that was the end of her comic book bio. For us, speaking from a historical point of view, it seems to end abruptly, but it was from early 1950 and the publishers had no idea of the backlash she was about to face.

slaytonf, you missed two obvious ones...
To Be Or Not To Be - a remake of the Jack Benny/Carole Lombard movie
Silent Movie - a salute to silent comedies

It's hard to believe both of them are gone now. I still remember how I would watch their weekly program. The whole format is locked into my brain and in my heart.
But he was more than a film critic...

I can see a fairly clear path of what I want to attend, with one or two decisions to make, but there is one key time period that has me going, "Are you kidding?!"
All of these overlapping at different times Saturday afternoon between 2 to 6 pm:
Conversation with Max Von Sydow
Giant (World Premiere restoration)
On Golden Pond (with Jane Fonda in person)
The Big Parade (World Premiere restoration)
The Train
They Live By Night
Guy and Dolls (at the El Capitan)
...and What's The Score with Alex Trebek which takes place when Giant and Guys and Dolls are just finishing.

I wondered about that, too. Coincidence? Something with so many stars would take awhile to schedule, but still...the night before the TCM Film Festival?
