Nope. Clue #3: A newspaper editor.

No, no, and no. Clue #2: An undelivered letter.

Will anything stop the destruction of Turner Classic Movies?

Hm, maybe the original poster "took off" and "high-tailed it out of here" when they decided we were all NUTS to jump all over his/her case for making an observation. Or it could be that jcd really was a troll, trying to induce another firefight on the boards...I mean, come on, look at the title of the thread, which I still think is an unusually spark-setting first post from anyone. If such is the case, jcd is probably quite pleased with himself right now. After all, look at it, almost 100 posts, 1642 views, in just 5 days. And all he had to do was post 3 or 4 messages. And about a subject we have fought about (sorry...discussed) so much recently. -
Great, thanks. I'll start a new one within 24 hiurs.

Alright, I give up. I would say Frank Faylen but he was in only 169 movies. lol, are you sure this is a trivia quiz for beginners? I consider myself pretty much an expert on old movies but I've struggled with this.

that I appeared in more than 170 movies.Warner was a good actor, but he wasn't in as many films as that. Sorry, he was in 130 films and I thought there might be more uncredited.

And the whole thing at the end with the cafe is based on a painting by Edward Hopper (the Sunny Side of Life intro are all Hopper paintings).

The scene with the man pouring the coffee to a man and young woman is from The Wild One.

...Ward Bond... I've had a problem with watching Ward Bond since I became aware of this: "...Actor Ward Bond who took an active role in helping to blacklist his colleagues on the political left once told a radio director, 'We know Norman Corwin was not a communist, never was a communist. But he'll do until one comes along.'" Norman Corwin is one of the greatest writers of the 20th Century and his V-E Day radio drama, "On a Note of Triumph," is one of the most stirring pieces of Americana you can ever hear.

Both versions have been issued in "letterbox" form on laser disc The new 2-DVD release features both versions, as well.

I was lucky enough to see the road show when it came to L.A. with Jason Alexander and Martin Short. Both were terrific in it.

The siblings helped a lot. And then it made me remember the mother's "telemarketing". The trip to the zoo had me going for a bit but that would be the glass menagerie. Public speaking was the gentleman caller.

H.B. Warner?

The serial, The New Adventures of Tarzan, is a public domain title. One source is the Alpha Video DVD, the entire serial for around $5.99 (www.oldies.com). I have also noticed it in places like Fry's for $4.99.

Possibly...The Glass Menagerie?
-
A guess...Lionel Barrymore?

MacHead, as far as Groundhog Day, I was watching that live and saw the freeze, and you do miss a few minutes of the movie because when it comes back it is at a point where it would be in real time if the freeze had not occured.

While watching TCM live on Sunday, it froze. I dialed the DISH network #, but before I was able to finish hitting 1 for English, 5 for tech problem, etc., etc., the freeze ended. I was really hoping DISH would be able to look at their TCM channel and see the freeze I was talking about, but since it was over, I hung up before getting through to a person.
-
It did it just now with Groundhog Day, too.

rkf0513, for the most part, I am keeping my plans for the new Challenge secret at this time; however, I will let everyone breathe easier by saying the new Challenge will have no Guest Programmer this time. After all, in each month of TCM, there is only one night with a GP. That means only one week out of the four or five in a month happens to have a GP. Well, the week you will be programming will be one of the weeks without the GP.
-
I've called DISH and sent an email to TCM. Let's hope for the best that having several people contact both will help.

I just noticed a freeze during Sleeper this morning. It looks like the problems are definitely back. I am going to call DISH.
