I'm interested in what WBHV will release in the big MGM musical promo that is coming "shortly". I'm reading between the lines, but it seems as if some Jane Powell films will be included.
It's hard to say. From the few actual bits I caught during the live Forum, they seemed to be playing several things close to the vest.
I tried to get in to ask a question but never got chosen.

I always think of her in All the King's Men, but I have also heard her in some of her radio performances, such as doing parts on I Love A Mystery. She was very talented. And I always felt a little scary. I didn't know that about her son.

Questions as to the poor quality of the SD DVD releases of Lost in a Harem and A & C in Hollywood was brought up. Warner had no good answers except to say the negatives for both films were lost during the Eastman fire and if they have poor film elements they have nothing to go back to so you do the best you can with what you got. They thought it best to release them at a very affordable price instead of leaving them on the shelve. Also, sometimes it isn't possible to obtain perfection and their technical people do the best job they can with what they have to work with.
Warner has stated they're hesitent to give release dates because circumstances changes due to a number of reasons which is why The Crowd and The Big Parade have not been released in 2006. The last restorations for both of those films were done in 1980s which means that process needs to done from scratch again before a SD DVD release. Warner hates to disappoint consumers, but some times that happens.
No plans for The Boyfriend, Savage Messiah and Lisztomania.
The roadshow version with restored footage of Raintree County coming in 2008. No plans for National Velvet revisited.
Warner still has plans to release every HD DVD title onto Blu-ray including Forbidden Planet.
Warner plans to release plenty of films under the cloud of PD outfits with titles from Monogram, Allied Artists and National General.
Mame is coming, but not in stereo after years of failing to do so. No plans for Hotel.

Re: the Costco Fox sale...
I went into a Costco store today, and I have bad news and good news:
First the bad news, the stock on the Fox special sale seems to be limited to the R&H set, the James Bond Ultimate Edition sets, The Mel Brooks Collection, and the Star Wars Trilogy.
Now for the good news (great, actually):
All of the above have had their price lowered and they are selling at $43.99 each. And then you apply the $10 off discount coupon to as many as you want, and the final price is $33.99 each!!!!!
So let's look at that:

I think, yes, that Amazon still has their deal on, but you do have to buy all 4 sets of the Ultimate JBs together. You can get the ones at Costco individually.

I am hoping they include the Grable set and Moto and Chan. It's always hard to say. The picture in the coupon book (don't forget yourt coupon!) shows the R&H set, the Mel Brooks collection, a Bond Ultimate set, and the Star Wars Trilogy. Often, though, they will put out others.
I went to the Burbank store on Saturday because usually they have some of these already out, ready to be priced down on Monday, but I didn't see any of the sets. Hope they still have everything in boxes.
By the way, anyone who shops at the Los Feliz store should know that, for some reason, their prices are always a few dollars more than most of the other stores.

Good point. Maybe they will start Seventh Veil at 6:15. But there have also been noted running times of 120 min for Monsieur Verdoux, so it may end at 3:45.

I wanted so much for them to cut the dancers, inglis. It made the show longer and I felt this was some choreographer of the Oscars vanity at work. That and the dancers who basically ruined the Dreamgirls numbers.
Oh, and how could I forget the chorus of sound effects? What were the higherups thinking?

I was very disapppointed about that. Considering the poster art was great lines from movies, I expected them to announce this was the year of the screenwriter or something. I, at least, expected some montage about it. Instead, all we saw were very quick bits of lines on screens when clips were shown from nominees. Sigh, once again, the writer got screwed.
