Since it is only one film you are looking for, click the Suggest A Movie link:
http://www.tcm.com/suggestamovie/index/
TCM has been playing a number of British films recently. It might appear.

Why they sound sooooo threatened and defensive is beyond me.
Well, maybe it is antagonistic headers like "What the Blue Blazes - The down fall of TCM".
Doesn't the header "What the Blue Blazes - The down fall of TCM", sound a lot lot these headers by other recent first day posters: "You call that a classic?", "TCM Sells Out - Pan & Scan - Quiller Memorandum", ?Will anything stop the destruction of Turner Classic Movies??
Otterhere, doesn't this almost sound like it is the same poster over and over? Never non-imflammatory headers such as "I have a question about recent films airing on TCM" or "Maybe I am mistaken but are more recent movies airing?".
It might just be that Mr. Dash may be used to boards where nobody from the networks reads what is there, but here the TCM programmer does, as do a few other TCM personnel. How would you like to work very hard at programming the great things we see on TCM and then read Mr. Dash's comment in a different thread, "Totally agree, they must of hired someone in scheduling that?s on crack!" This person posted that on his first day being registered.

Of course, I should have gotten that. "Hold the Mayo", lol.

I think I know what everyone is doing. Don't use www.turnerclassicmovies.com. That is leading you to the British link. Use www.tcm.com.

Presnell's rendition of "They Call the Wind Maria" is terrific. I can definitely do without Marvin's "Wanderin' Star" and Eastwood's "I Talk to the Trees".
Presnell also starred in the movie "The Unsinkable Molly Brown".

I love L.A. but it is a good day when you can see the skyline, lol.

Really? I just type in www.tcm.com, get to the main page, then click on Message Boards.

Welcome to the Challenge, Fedya. Very impressive schedule.
I enjoyed the various "Five" tributes, especially the "Jackson 5" (six if you include the short) tribute and "Fifth in a Series".
The May 2nd birthday salute to several people, instead of just one, was a wonderful touch.
Charles Laughton as Star of the Month is an excellent choice, as is Glenda Farrell for a boxset.
It must be because I am typing this at 4:30 in the morning that the obvious theme is eluding me from "Spot the Obvious Theme." I guess if you share what is, then the theme title wouldn't be good, lol.
A marvellous selection of films, Fedya. Job very well done.
-
Doing this has really intensified my obssesion with "themes."
I know the feeling. Now when they announce the next three movies at the end of a film on TCM, you will start noticing the themes more.
-
ben, we must think alike. The first Challenge schedule I ever did had tributes to Father's Day and Bob Fosse. A later one I did, in honor of Lindbergh's famous flight, had a salute to films around the world.
What is it they say about great minds?

I've seen the movie a few times but never cared that much for it (I am sure a lot of that is based on that I don't like Oliver Reed, period). However, I was totally amazed by the staging of the Broadway production.
I have 5.1 set up, too, though I never use my subwoofer. I recently upgraded to a receiver/amplifier with DTS and the sound difference is amazing when you have a DVD that has been recorded in DTS (not many are), as opposed to Dolby Digital 5.1. Watching (and listening to) the new Ultimate Edition of You Only Live Twice in DTS makes you feel you are in the big battle inside the volcano near the end.

Cinema, don't forget to post this in the DVD section under musicals.

In some ways, ben, I think my brains may go from scrambled eggs to sunny-side up, for I may have it the easiest since I won't have to decide on which schedule to vote for this time. You and others on the message boards have that tough voting decision ahead of you starting March 8th. (As moderator/host, I will only cast my vote in case of a tie.)
The schedules posted so far are all beyond incredible and I don't envy those who will have to pick one. And as the competition is open for about two more weeks, there will be more schedules from everyone who would like to participate, and that means more choices. But I am very happy because of seeing so many first-timers taking part this time, and producing schedules that match in quality those of people who have participated since the very first Challenge.

MGMWBRKO,
Is there any chance you can reschedule the TravelTalk short "Mackinac Island"? I saw only the last minute or two of it when it aired a few weeks ago, and would love to see the whole thing because I love the movie "Somewhere in Time" that was filmed there.
By the way, that short would be a great lead-in or end of movie One-Reel Wonder if you show "Somewhere in Time."
Thanks,
filmlover

MGMWBRKO,
And if I may repeat something you said in the Hot Topics forum, there are 55 Premieres in April!
How can anyone complain? I love all that TCM is doing.
Thanks,

Ben, great schedule. I know you worked very hard on this. From the earlier post on how you envisioned the promo you came up with, to the finished schedule, it's terrific.
I am definitely in favor of Gregory Peck for Star of the Month.
Lots of cartoons, shorts, trailers, too.
The DVD set on William Haines is interesting. I don't recall hearing of him before but in looking at his bio I see that he was a big star in the silent days at MGM. That's the sort of wonderful stuff each of us brings to this board.
Congratulations on an excellent job.

Hi, Donna,
If you click on the "edit" icon (it has the pencil on the word balloon), left of the "reply" icons, on the original post where you have the full schedule, you can make the edit right in your original schedule.
I recommend this because when I set up the links for voting, people will be reviewing all the individual schedules, and they will see your schedule in full the way it is meant to be seen.
Great schedule!
I am so amazed by the quality of all the entries. And I am very happy to say that this Challenge has more contestants than any Challenge ever before! (Anyone else who would like to join in can still do so.)
-
cinema, I was referring to the film being changed in the boxset. Yes, it is good to use in the schedule itself. For the boxset, the requirement says:
"Create an imaginary new DVD boxset containing 5 actual movies from the WB-pre 1950, MGM-all, and RKO-all library only (not the other five studios). All titles must be new to DVD."
The reason I put this in the criteria is that Warner Bros. owns all three, and, who knows, they may get ideas from the Challenge.
-
I am so very knocked out by all the schedules entered in the Challenge so far. They are terrific.
To everyone who has not yet entered, there are still 16 days left to create a schedule. Check the rules and requirements in the very first post of this thread. You have until midnight PT March 7th to enter.

Fredmill,
Great schedule. Lots of imagination and I am very impressed by your thoroughness in it.
With regards to the boxsets, Ray Milland makes a great Signature Collection. As far as The Univited, a Paramount film, it would not be part of the TCM library, as that consists of WB-pre1950, MGM-all, and RKO-all. Anything you can sub in that film's place?
The Universal set would be one I would buy. For the Challenge, though, only one boxset is entered per participant (and being Universal would not qualify under the TCM library requirement). But I still love it!
-
Not to worry. I think someone in the last challenge programmed more for WB than you did for RKO.
Hello, my name is filmlover and I'm a Warnerholic.
-
jarhfive,
An incredible RKO schedule! Wouldn't that be something to see, an entire week of RKO. I'd even enjoy one full month of TCM showing RKO from beginning to end.
Richard Dix as Star of the Month would be wonderful. It's amazing that for so many of us that we barely heard of him, but ever since TCM ran Richard Dix films during Summer Under the Stars, many of us have become major fans.
Hildegarde Withers as a theme and as a boxset is a great idea. I wasn't aware there were that many with the character. AND I love the featurettes you came up with, especially, "Hildegarde Withers...Teacher, Sleuth, or Serial Killer". Hysterical.
There are so many films I have not seen, or even heard of before now, in your schedule and that is my kind of week.
I know how hard it is to do a tribute to just one studio. You've done a great job. Congratulations!
-
lol, fedya, we have all run into movies being a few minutes too long. It's made for a lot of rearranging when I have had that occur.
Don't worry, you'll get it.

Fedya, I also meant to mention I like your idea of Classics for Kids. Robin Hood is an excellent choice. I remember what appealed to me as a kid. Adventures of Robin Hood, Mark of Zorro, and Thief of Bagdad come immediately to mind.
