A long sought-after Disney title is now available on DVD, Emil and the Detectives. But you can only get it through the Disney Movie Club as a member. It's part of their DVD exclusives line (think MOD), which can be iffy on quality sometimes. They also have the newly-released exclusive, Charley and the Angel.

Thanks for mentioning the Blu. I missed that part.

One thing that needs to be remembered is the scriptwriting standard that during the first 20 minutes the characters are introduced and we get to know them, then something new is added to the story that takes it in a new direction. Sort of the start of act 2. Which then lasts for about an hour, and heads into a do or die situation, which is act 3 and usually runs 20-30 minutes, then a wrapup of a few minutes. It has been a standard with the vast majority of films. Think Wizard of Oz, where the first act is her at home in Kansas, then the tornado drops her in Oz, which is the start of act 2. Act 3 is the do-or-die situation of the Scarecrow, Lion, and Tin Man breaking into the witch's castle to rescue Dorothy. (Another example, the original Star Wars film's act 1 ends with the death of Luke's aunt and uncle, going off with ObiWan. Act 3 starts with the attack on the Death Star.) (Casablanca, the turning point comes about the 20-minute mark when Ilsa walks into Rick's Cafe with Victor Laszlo. The end of Act/start of Act 3 is Rick pulling a gun on Renault/going to the airport.) Check it out on your own with films on TCM, you will see it hangs true for 99% of the movies. In the case of longer films like Land of the Pharoahs, the acts are a bit longer. Joan Collins is the change into Act 2.

Update on the Looney Tunes Blu-ray set... Warner Bros. Senior VP George Feltenstein announced at a Comic Con panel today that the studio will release the [|http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Looney-Tunes-Platinum-Collection-Volume-One-Blu-ray/26307/] on Blu-ray this November. The much anticipated release will bring 50 classic Looney Tunes cartoons to high definition. The Looney Tunes Platinum Collection: Volume One will arrive in two variations, each containing 3 Blu-ray discs.
