Oops. My computer at work is poor on links, so it probably didn't highlight it the way I can see it now (here at home). Shoulda known. ...so ashamed... ; )

I know you will do a great job when you cover it for your site. To anyone visiting the L.A. area, you need to break away from Hollywood Blvd. and head to downtown L.A. to visit the Biltmore. You will see pics from Academy Award ceremonies in the 1930s, plus one large (I mean, HUGE!) one of the 1937 ceremony. Here's a link to it:

Oh, I wouldn't buy it for $39, that's for sure. There would have to be a really great sale on it, first.

K, have you ever done anything on the Biltmore? I love walking its halls, hearing my footsteps on the marble. And the Academy Awards ceremonies' pictures from way back when are really great. Our company used to hold its Christmas parties there (oops, I mean holiday celebrations, to be politically correct)and I probably spent more time looking at the pictures in the hallways than celebrating in the ballrooms. p.s. --- I also believed that this thread should be moved up so all can get a look at it. ; )

Best Buy has several new Blu-ray exclusives. The ones that are of interest here would be Midnight Cowboy and The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (the original one), at $9.99 each right now (the price will soon go back to $14.99).

Great on both titles. TWG has been a long time coming. And Fedora has a Rozsa score.

> {quote:title=ValentineXavier wrote:}{quote} > "Your appreciation will depend upon your fondness for the Nazis." What a quote - speaking about *Confessions of a Nazi Spy*. One wouldn't use the word "fondness" in the same sentence with "Nazis" today. LOL, obviously, the reviewer was being sarcastic.

You have such an eye (and I am sure Groucho would add, "The rest of her isn't too bad, either"). It was great to see the hotel again, and in such detail. A few years back...oh, my gosh, I guess it was more than ten years ago!!!...they had a nightclub there that had big bands and dancing on the weekends. Really loved that place. Edit -- Oops, I am thinking of the Beverly Hilton.

New sale, but not great. Buy 2 single-DVD titles and get 1 free. Free shipping. Ends up being $40 for three on an average...works out to about $13.33 a title. Definitely not as good as 5 for $50, but some titles are marked down to $17.95, so about $12 a piece. Plus tax. I think I just might go for this. Want to get The Boyfriend, Don Juan, and -30-. Expires 5/31.

Fri., May 26, 1939 The below ad is really huge, close to 9 x12 inches. Unfortunately, with the last fix the website really shrank the size of pictures we used to be able to use to something tiny. This truly ruins the effect that Warner Bros wanted with this movie ad. (Sigh, do we really need the Popular Forums and Discussion column at the right? Can't we see that when we are in those forums?) I will have to make do with what I have by trying to give you the feeling of the size by having everything else after it smaller; but even that doesn't do it. The ad is actually twice as wide as the movie review that follows it. Imagine what it was like for someone opening the newspaper to the movie page and seeing the below ad so huge that it commanded you to see the movie. WB knew it was important to warn the public (two years before WWII) about the danger of the Nazis. Edited by: filmlover on May 26, 2011 4:36 AM Edited by: filmlover on May 26, 2011 4:37 AM

rayallen wrote: "I agree. May I suggest we start with weather reports." Definitely. How about false advertising with movie title names, such as "It's Always Fair Weather"?

And it should be noted that The FBI is part 1 of Season 1, only the first 16 of the season. But I still want it.
