    Greta Garbo

Thank TCM for airing their programming on Greta Garbo, particularly the new documentary. http://www.geocities.com/lord02141/scottlordgretagarbo.html
  2. Dr. Doolittle, Was there enough clarity in my writing for you to tell that it was a live performance of Mr. Avalon's. I could hear his singing throughout the entire room, not only at my desk. http://www.geocities.com/lord02141/scottlord.html
  3. In the TCM review section there weren't any reviews of the films of Frankie Avalon. I looked through the filmography to find that he has so far appeared in 71 films, the most recent of which I haven't seen. The film I have here is Grease and will add a review later when my flashplayer can be downloaded, but because there may be a love of silent film that both the actor-singer may have, what I mentioned earlier tonight, that there was a series of early 60's films in which he had appeared that introduced him to television audiences in the U.S, makes it so that I would add it here. Tonight the te
  4. Because it is a Sunday and Sunday Silent Nights is not scheduled, please watch a Greta Garbo film online. Swedish Television, Sveriges Television AB has a copy of Greta Garbo's first screen appearance, photographed by Ragnar Ring and very often shown in published film stills. http://svt.se/svt/road/Classic/shared/mediacenter/navigation.jsp?d=379591 Thanks, the direct link from open file is: svt.se/content/1/c6/44/40/71/oa-1920-0000-Sandells-tk001130-gretareklam2_hi.ram It shows Greta Garbo trying on dresses, having tea and during a picnic. Wallace Berry

I'm only guessing that the films directed by Wallace Berry for Nestor in 1916 were comedies. (Bombs and Banknotes, Berry 1916). If anyone does know of a webpage that includes Nestor or if there is a book that lists the films directed by Berry would you please write me. Thanks, Scott Lord

    Greta Nissen

Please write if you have a webpage or link of the films of Greta Nissen. Scott Lord http://www.geocities.com/lord02141/scottlordgretagarbo.html
  7. Please write if you have awebpage, or are aware of any links to webpages on screenwriters June Mathis or Frances Marion. Thanks, Scott Lord http://www.geocities.com/lord02141/scottlordgretagarbo.html
  8. A friend of mine from my e-mail groups has begun a new Clara Bow messageboard. Please visit her new site: http://clarabow.proboards105.com Thanks, Scott Lord
  9. TCM is tonight screening The Gold Rush (1925, Chaplin). The webpage lists the running time as being under 78 min, whereas my copy lists the time as 81 min. What's odd is that my copy is part of a collection of five VHS tapes with a picture of the Keystone Cops on the box named Hollywood Silent Classics and includes College, Oliver Twist and The Eagle. Usually the TCM copy of any of the 10 films in the collection would be longer. Is the TCM version of Gold Rush a shorter version? Scott Lord http://www.geocities.com/lord02141/scottlord.html
  10. I just watched Gold Digeers of 1933 on TCM on demand, although I am an avid fan of Robert Osborne and just resubscribed to Silent Sunday Nights. I am also a member of the Yahoo group TurnerClassicMovies. The camera work in the film and its set design is fun to watch and after you fall in love with Ruby Keeler, Joan Blondell is at her prettiest- she is amazingly sexy in this particular film. Thank you for the film, Scott Lord http://www.geocities.com/lord02141/scottlord.html
  11. Hi Michelle, I'm in your Yahoo group TheCovenofOliveThomas and am very glad to hear that your book will soon be published. I did go to your webpage and you should have gotten a letter from me asking if I could link to your Olive Thomas page from my webpage as soon as I can come up with a paragraph to introduce the actress. If you think of it when writing, please try to fill me in on her favorite directors and any relationship between her and her directors. Again, best of luck with your forthcoming book. Scott Lord http://www.geocities.com/lord02141/scottlord.html
  12. Mol, I got a letter from Mark A. Vieira. I'm reading Greta Garbo, a Cinematic Legacy right now and the writing is better than I thought it was going to be from the size of the book and the amount of photos that are in it. When he wrote he sent me a group of photos left over from the book. I'm sure it would be ok if I send you some, but now that I'm reading it I'm fairly sure that there are photos that he might not have included in the book, so you wouldn't know ahead of time which they were. Please write if I can be of any help. http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/Greta_Garbo/
  13. Audrey, Have you written to me before, your address looks familiar? The silent films of Greta Garbo are actually well written dramas and not very comedic at all. Sometimes I pass a little on Grand Hotel and Dinner at Eight, but not because Garbo can't act. Mata Hari is dramatic, As You Desire Me is good. Inspiration might be one of her best dramas. Thanks, http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/Greta_Garbo/ scott
  14. I know, but think of As You Desire Me and Jean Harlow in The Red Headed Woman. She's very cute in The Rise and Fall of Susan lennox as far as hair is concerned. Alot of the silent films as well. scottlord http://www.geocities.com/lord02141/scottlord.html
  15. If your father grew up in Sweden, please visit my webpage. It has quite alot on Swedish Television. I got a letter from Ase Kleveland, director of the Swedish Film Institute when I wrote to her about the birthday of Greta Garbo and the screenings of Camille at the insitute. Just scroll down untill you get to a photo from The Divine Woman. Tacka so mycket http://www.geocities.com/lord02141/scottlord.html
