I wanted to watch "Assignment in Brittany," but the film does not have closed captions. Jean-Pierre Aumont's French accent is genuine, but it makes his lines hard for this American to understand. I hope someone adds closed captions to what appears to be an excellent WWII movie.

The Defenders of Taffy 3 is a WWII-era documentary that tells the real-life story of US Navy sailors that fought a battle of wits against impossible odds, bravery and the sacrifices they made. I used still photography taken aboard the USS Kidd and actual battle photography from WWII in the making of the film. Some of the images were GIMPed. I used Microsoft Movie Maker to create the video and tried to make full use of the few features the program had to offer. I performed the narration using a really cheapie microphone. The background music is from Maynard Ferguson and Buddy Rich. I used Audac

OK. I once watched a movie about a post war veteran going to stay at this friend's or a bed and breakfast type of place in the countryside and he meets this girl who is so beautiful to him. She thinks he is the most handsome man on earth. In the end, we find out that they were only seeing the inner beauty of each other because in reality, he was actually an injured war soldier and she was real homely looking. I have been looking for the name of this movie for years. I saw it on classic movies when I was in high school (1986) and it has haunted me ever since.

JOHN GARFIELD: DEAD BEFORE HE COULD REACH 40, THE AGE HE BELIEVED ACTORS BECAME GREAT ACTORS. John Garfield was a major movie star during the studio system era. He was an activist and campaigned for a role in Gentleman's Agreement opposite Gregory Peck about anti-Semitism. He won the role. Garfield was himself Jewish. Garfield was ready to join the fight in WWII and showed up only to fail the medical - 4F - like a lot of Hollywood stars did - because of heart problems. But Garfield wanted to contribute to the war effort as best he could and joined Bette Davis in starting Holly

This is a seldom seen movie about Vietnam before it became the US' war. It is about the French at Dien Bien Phu. Ironically I saw it as a late movie on TV before I went to Vietnam.

TCM can find only one Vietnam movie for Memorial Day? They seem to do this every Memorial Day or show none at all. And its The Green Berets-again! This is a typical John Wayne movie-plenty of action and not a bad story, but accuracy is not a key factor. I was in the US Army Airborne about that time and served at Ft. Bragg (Home of the Green Berets and the Airborne) and in Vietnam. There are plenty of better Vietnam movies out there that TCM should be able to obtain. Go Tell the Spartans with Burt Lancaster is one that deserves to be shown for example.

While I was waiting for The Ten Commandments to download last night, I whiled away the time watching Casablanca again. I have seen this movie countless times, and for me, it was the film that motivated me into being the movie lover I am today. There is a magic about this story and its production that always grips me. Last night's viewing reminds me that this story takes me to foreign shores, yet the production never leaves Burbank, CA. Well, maybe there's a scene at the Van Nuys airport, but again, not that far. I still buy it. It is such masterful production design, it hooks me ev

I'm like Quentin Tarrentino about this hard to catch great old war movie. I think it's a jem that maybe because of the not to well known actors in it and maybe their budget was small it gets passed over more than it should. It's got some of the best action I've ever seen in a war movie and I've seen almost everyone out there, has a great realistic story line/plot, and whatever this movie lacked in budget or high paid actors they sure made up in action, realism and acting. I couldn't tell you how many times I've suggested this movie with no luck, even to go as far as writing several times tryin
