I have posted about this movie in the past, but never got any answers as to why such a wonderful drama would be overlooked by the general movie community and the restorationists. The movie has a wonderful story, that moves from a story about a long term marriage that is moving into trouble due to the husband's job becoming obsolete in the transition of turn of the century mechanical revolution. It also shows the harm that social and religious prejudice can cause to teens struggling with coming of age in a changing world. It also touches on infidelity. The film stars Robert Preston, Dorothy Mcguire and a young Shirley Night. It also showcases some great supporting players. I have loved this movie since I was a pre-teen, and have not seen it on any station for over 40 years. Please help if you can with information about the state of the movie, when it may be broadcast, and if it is available to buy in any form. I believe it is a Warner's property, but I am unsure at this point. Thank you for any help you can give me.
I posted this already on the information forum but now am thinking it may be better to post here also I know this is a little late to post but I had hoped I could figure it out on my own but I am still perplexed. On the date of August 24 heading into August 25 I just happened to flip on TCM for a second and the sound was off because of some personal issues but there was a clip of a young female singer performing and I was not sure if it was in the movie "Doomed Cargo" or the next one which was "Movie Crazy." But it may have been more likely to be a short between the movies. Anyway I am very intrigued by this clip and am hoping if someone else saw this they could provide me a name for the singer, number or how can I access it again? She reminded me very much of a young Bette Midler and I wished I could have had the sound on. I have tried looking but am unable to find any information to help me out. The movie on before these two was "American Madness" but I think it was past that time. I am sure hoping someone will solve this for me please. thanks Any help in this would be most appreciated
