  1. Can anyone provide details on the intro music played right before many (but not all) movies on TCM. I believe it is played on a xylophone, it is quite brief and It sounds amazingly like parts of the music in the movie the Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. I'm interested to confirm that and know the name of the song, the composer and any other interesting details about the piece/excerpt.
  2. MUSIC THAT INFLUENCED "ME" GROWING-UP It has been suggested that I create a musical thread of "my" own. And so I have. Music, as movies, has had a profound influence upon me throughout my life, as I suspect it has for many others. So the "Me" in the title really refers to any one of "US" posting here. My intention for this thread is to provide numerous music links to a host of songs that "We" grew up with and fondly remember. And because we each have been exposed to many different kinds of music I imagine that there will eventually be quite an eclectic list of songs within this
  3. I had this mystery on IMDb when it had its boards, I have it on IMDb v2.0's boards now, I have it on Rotten Tomatoes' boards, on IMDf's boards, I've contacted people who worked on the film, librarians, music historians, singers... All that is to say we're no closer to an answer than when I first posted this mystery nearly a year ago. The question is simple: who sang the three Cole Porter songs in the movie Sleuth (1972) The answer is far from simple, sending me down a rabbit hole of false leads and red herrings. I started with the post a year ago on IMDb, after finding out that the my
  4. In With Flynn! (Errol that is) This is a thread for those that can't get enough of Errol Flynn. I was composing a reply to Speedracer awhile back, and began gathering so much non-extraneous info that it required a more organized post. By the time I got it arranged, the thread had disappeared. So I decided to post this stuff in it's own thread, for the enjoyment of at least a few here. So for Speedo, and Tom, and myself, and whomever else here that "Can't get enough of (or about) anything related to Errol Flynn, This thread is for you! Errol Leslie Flynn (June 20, 1909 – October
  5. Does anyone know the name of the song that plays during Audrey's Star of The Month commercial? A lyrics search isn't turning up anything beyond Earth, Wind and Fire's "Shining Star" lol.
  6. I know this question must be asked all the time - The promos and the music on TCM are incredible - all of them, luscious productions. I am really interested in knowing: Is there ever a way to find out the films that comprise the montages, especially for this April? Sometimes I see them on youtube - do they get archived anywhere? Ditto for the regularly shown promos, songs, etc. Thanks in advance, film lovers!
  7. Hello, all! I'm collecting mp3 of songs that were nominated for an Academy Award. And of course, the hardest one to find is "Pennies for Peppino" from FLYING WITH MUSIC (1942). Now of course, I am fully aware there's very, very little chance of finding the song anywhere. But I want to know if there's anyone who have seen the movie at least once and know the lyrics to the song or if there's anything more than that they can help me out with. Yes, it's a really crazy request and I'm sure my replies will be "Nope, sorry, no dice." But you can't say I didn't try.
  8. The guitar/musical accompaniment is making this film virtually unwatchable. I don't remember this soundtrack on this film when I watched it before. What happened? Who's idea was this?
  9. Who is the performer & what is the bumper music being used with the TCM previews shown between films in May, 2015?
