Occasionally we see films on TCM that were remakes of earlier versions, often foreign, such as the two GIGI films. In the case of WILD IS THE WIND, I would like to see its long unknown original version, the 1947 Italian film FURIA, with Rossano Brazzi and Isa Pola. It achieved some notoriety when it was released in the U.S. because of its frank treatment of sexuality. While WILD IS THE WIND is often programmed, FURIA is now impossibly rare, probably suppressed when Paramount obtained the story rights before remaking the original film.
