Independent U.S. distributors Scorpion Releasing have confirmed that they will release a Limited Blu-ray Edition of director Frank Perry's "David and Lisa" (1962), starring Keir Dullea, Janet Margolin, Howard Da Silva, Clifton James, and Neva Patterson. The release is expected to arrive on the U.S. market later this year.

U.S. distributors Kino Lorber have announced a new line of classic studio films. The Kino Lorber Studio Classics line will introduce many new, previously unavailable on Blu-ray classic films, which will begin arriving on the market later this summer.  Amongst the first confirmed Blu-ray titles are: Billy Wilder's Witness of the Prosecution (1957) and The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes (1970), Delbert Mann's Marty (1955), Martin Ritt's Paris Blues (1961), Ralph Nelson's Duel at Diablo (1966), and Sydney Pollack's The Scalphunters (1968).

On another subject...while discussing with Home Media Magazine the extensive restoration work that was needed to prepare classic TV shows for Blu-ray release, Ryan Adams, director of multimedia services for CBS Television Distribution, confirmed that CBS is preparing Blu-ray releases of Gunsmoke, Rawhide, Bonanza, The Wild Wild West, Petticoat Junction, Dynasty, The Beverly Hillbillies, Taxi, and Twin Peaks (with director David Lynch involved with the restoration). According to Mr. Adams, CBS is also more than halfway through a three-year spruce-up of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

filmlover, was worried about the extras on the R&H  Blu Ray collection.  Glad most are there.  Its odd that the 1962 STATE FAIR is not included.  Its not a very good film but they should have included it.  I held onto my DVD copy of STATE FAIR.

Re TWILIGHT TIME, just too expensive for me and those Columbia films are of no interest to me on Blu Ray.  If they did SODOM AND GOMORRAH or APRIL LOVE would be interested but at this point it seems unlikely and I have no interest in a pan and scan version.

filmlover, for some reason the site bleeped the first word of that biblical film released by FOX that I talked about.  Do they think its a nasty word?  Its the title of a movie.  Very strange.

There are some words that or parts of word that are of a sexualnature that get instantly bleeped by the computer.  The five letter word you are talking about has a longer word that is probably the reason for the bleeping.

Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!

Pedro Almodóvar's colorful and controversial tribute to the pleasures and perils of Stockholm syndrome, Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! is a rambunctious dark comedy starring Antonio Banderas as an unbalanced but alluring former mental patient and Victoria Abril as the B-movie and porn star he takes prisoner in the hopes of convincing her to marry him. A highly unconventional romance that came on the spike heels of Almodóvar's international sensation Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, this is a splashy, sexy central work in the career of one of the world's most beloved and provocative auteurs, radiantly shot by the director's great cinematographer José Luis Alcaine.

Vengeance Is Mine

A thief, a murderer, and a charming lady-killer, Iwao Enokizu (Ken Ogata) is on the run from the police. Director Shohei Imamura turns this fact-based story—about the seventy-eight-day killing spree of a remorseless man from a devoutly Catholic family—into a cold, perverse, and at times diabolically funny examination of the primitive coexisting with the modern. More than just a true-crime tale, Vengeance Is Mine bares humanity's snarling id.

  • Audio commentary from 2005 featuring critic Tony Rayns
  • Excerpts from a 1999 interview with director Shohei Imamura, produced by the Directors Guild of Japan

  • Two audio commentaries: a feature-length one with editor Alan Heim and a scene-specific one with actor Roy Scheider
  • Razzle-Dazzle, a new video essay on the film by critic Matt Zoller Seitz
  • Episode from 1980 of the television talk show Tomorrow, featuring director Bob Fosse and choreographer Agnes de Mille

Normally, I don't list TV series of the last few decades...but this is one announcement I had to mention.

On July 29, CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Media Distribution will release the ultimate Blu-ray collection of the cult phenomenon from acclaimed director David Lynch and writer/producer Mark Frost: Twin Peaks: The Entire Mystery. This collection also features nearly 90 minutes of deleted/alternate scenes from Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, directed by David Lynch.

Arriving for the first time on stunning High Definition Blu-ray with English 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio on July 29th, this comprehensive collection contains every episode from the complete television series; both the U.S. and international versions of the series' Pilot; the North American Blu-ray debut of Lynch's follow-up feature Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me; and nearly 90 minutes of deleted and alternate scenes from the film. The set also features newly transferred Log Lady introductions for each episode; picture upgrades to many shots in the TV series; a new featurette with Lynch and the actors who portrayed the Palmer family which includes a mesmerizing return to the lives of their characters today; and hours of never-before-released material that dives into the fascinating story behind the celebrated pop culture classic.

Along with a newly transferred version of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, created from a 4K scan of the original negative, TWIN PEAKS – THE ENTIRE MYSTERY Blu-ray box set boasts the long-awaited missing pieces from the original version of the film – nearly an hour-and-a-half of deleted/alternate scenes from Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me – often referred to as the "holy grail" of Twin Peaks fandom. This feature-length experience has been directed and edited by Lynch exclusively for this release. Capping off more than 30 deleted/alternate scenes is an epilogue providing a fascinating glimpse beyond the cliffhanger finale of the TV series.

Additionally, the set features a massive collection of pre-existing special features, some of which have been re-mastered in high definition exclusively for this release, including the award-winning four-part documentary "Secrets From Another Place: Creating Twin Peaks," and a newly extended version of the Gold Box featurette "A Slice of Lynch," featuring the complete and uncut conversation between David Lynch and actors Kyle MacLachlan and Mädchen Amick.
