I didn't know whether to post this here or in "Information Please". Amazon has a DVD release of "The Mask of Dimitrios" coming up for sale at $14.95. However, they give a release date of August 11, 1944. Does anyone know if Warner Bros. has actually announced that they are releasing this film or is this some kind of mistake on Amazon's part? Here's the link to the product on Amazon:

Any clarification would be appreciated.

Sounds like some sort of goof. Haven't heard a thing about this film being released on DVD. August 11 has come and gone and its also says temporarily out of stock, which is more puzzling. Maybe this is part of a film noir collection upcoming, although this is news to me.

I just bought the The Rodgers & Hammerstein Collection a little over a year ago, and now Fox wants me to shell out 500 dollars to buy a set that contains the exact same movies as that collection? I find this very annoying. Hopefullly they'll bust it up into subpackages like they did with Ford at Fox.

Mateo, I wonder if your DVD machine has something to do with the DVD freezing. I heard many comments about discs freezing and these same discs do not freeze on other DVD machines. Have you tried playing these discs on another machine? Actually I had problems with MAJOR AND THE MINOR. It froze in the same place each time I tried playing that disc. I returned it for another and it was fine. BTW, the A&C box art looks similar to the Hope-Crosby Road Set.

THE GREGORY PECK FILM COLLECTION will be released by Universal on 11/4.

The 7-disc set will contain two previously released titles, TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD (Special Edition) and CAPE FEAR and four titles new to DVD, ARABESQUE, MIRAGE, CAPTAIN NEWMAN, M.D and THE WORLD IN HIS ARMS is $59.98. A must for me. This set is being released just in time from DDD big fall sale.

That's awesome news, Edgecliff! I'm especially excited about *Arabesque* and *Captain Newman, M.D.* (I missed the latter one the last time it was on TCM).

Let's hope these new releases from Fox and Universal encourage even more classic DVD box set releases.

The people at Paramount are bonkers. The Audrey Hepburn films keep getting recycled and recycled over and over again every year. I have the last issues and the transfers are beautiful. I can only see new cover art. As for SUNSET BOULEVARD, a few years back the studio released a beautiful transfer of this film with lots of extras so there is no way I am going to update on these three titles, nor I believe are most people.

It seems a very risk-averse strategy. They know certain titles have sold in the past, so they don't want to take any risks by releasing other classic films. They seem to think they're better off licensing them to Criterion or Legacy or anybody else, so if the titles don't sell, they don't look bad in their little tiny corporate office. It's the only thing that could even remotely make sense.

Looking forward to the Gregory Peck Collection, especially Captain Newman and World in His Arms.

$239 plus for a 10 movie box set, are the people at Fox loco. I was planning on buying it, but I think I'll pass now, especially since the last 10 movie pack from Fox I bought was less than $50 (Tyrone Power vol.2)
