> $239 plus for a 10 movie box set, are the people at Fox loco. I was planning on buying it, but I think I'll pass now, especially since the last 10 movie pack from Fox I bought was less than $50 (Tyrone Power vol.2)

At that price, I'd rather rent than buy. Even if it's marked down to about $180 online it still comes to $18 per title, approximately.

*Missing Hammer films finally make it to DVD*

There were a number of Hammer horror movies that for some obscure reason never made it to DVD, much of the dismay of fans around the country, particularly, since among these films were some of the studios? most beloved movies. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has finally prepared DVD versions of these films and is releasing them as a DVD box set called *Icons Of Horror: Hammer Films*.

Unfortunately the release will not contain any bonus materials, but for mot fans it will be satisfying enough to finally get their hands on these films. ?Icons Of Horror: Hammer Films? will be in stores on October 14 and can be yours for $24.96.

By Swanni

*Washington, D.C. (August 28, 2008) -- Disney yesterday announced five new classic animated features that will be released on Blu-ray high-def disc over the next two years.*

*The studio, which is heavily promoting the release of Sleeping Beauty on Blu-ray on October 7, 2008 said it also release Pinocchio, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Fantasia, Fantasia 2000 and Beauty and the Beast on high-def disc.*

Disney said each movie will be available for a limited time only and will include rarely seen footage and new bonus features.

"We are excited to announce a magical slate of Platinum titles for the first time on Blu-ray High-Definition, this celebrated collection of animated features demonstrates Disney's commitment to deliver great content," said Bob Chapek, worldwide president of Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment.

The classic films will also include BD-Live features, will enable home viewers to download related material over the Internet. Disney believes the interactive experience will revitalize the home video industry.

"The landscape for the Blu-ray format is very healthy, and we believe that the enhanced movie experiences that the format provides, such as Disney's BD-Live network, offer consumers the chance to reinvent the experience of watching movies in their homes, and the interactivity and connectivity that is being provided will truly make the family room relevant again," said Chapek.

*The Disney information was posted August 26th!*

*You know, I bet if we were to look at your tons of posts here, we would only find one, maybe two times you have posted something that hasn't been posted already.*

*Tell us this one piece of information we don't know: Why do you post here at all????*

There seems to be some confusion (maybe entirely on my part) as to what is in the Borzage-Murnau collection. DVD Empire lists the following as the contents:

Includes:

Lazybones

Street Angel

7th Heaven

Sunrise

Lucky Star

They Had To See Paris

City Girl

Liliom

After Tomorrow

Young America

Song O' My Heart

Bad Girl

Murnau, Borzage & Fox Documentary

This shows that there are two more films in this set than I am seeing reported elsewhere, plus a documentary. Specifically, DVD Empire shows "After Tomorrow" and "Young America" listed as part of the collection and nobody else does. Does anybody know what is really in this set? I'm dying to have it, but I just can't see forking over $240 or anything close to it when Ford at Fox was $300 SRP for quite a bit more content just last year.

Fans of foreign-language films may be interested in the release of this 2002 Spanish movie:

Lionsgate Home Entertainment have announced the Region 1 DVD release of *Mondays in the Sun* as part of The Meridian Collection on 21st October 2008 priced at $29.98 SRP. Javier Bardem stars in Fernando Le?n de Aranoa?s insightful and heartbreaking drama. The film follows five unemployed shipyard workers who spend their days drinking in a local bar and riding the ferry back and forth, to no destination. Led by the cocky Santa (Javier Bardem), a lonely former ladies' man, the men may be down on their luck but still manage to encourage each other to search for work, love and the strength to hope for better days.

Presented in its original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85.1, this Meridian Collection DVD transfer was enhanced using the MTI Digital Restoration System to reduce the appearance of dirt, scratches and other film impurities. It includes deleted scenes, audio commentary, storyboard to scene comparisons and a making-of featurette.

This news about *American Television Archive's* release is tremendous, especially if it's an indication more and similar releases (Four Star Theater, Robert Montgomery Presents?) are

a possibility. I am definitely going to rent it as soon as it's out.

> Found out some more info on the Borzage-Murnau collection. The box set contains 12 discs. Amazon is taking pre-orders for $167.99. Wonder if other website will offer an even better price?

That's already about $14 per movie. I'm still more inclined to rent 'em than to buy 'em.

Here are the contents of THE ROBERTO ROSSELLINI (Directors Series) DVD - ERA NOTTE A ROMA (Escape by Night) and DOVE LA LIBERTA (Where is Freedom?). Definitely not on my want list. Never heard of these films but then I am not a fan of Rossellini nor his films .

As I mentioned back on August 14th, there will be a *The Lone Ranger - 75th Anniversary Collector's Edition*. It will contain the first two seasons of the classic TV series from 1949 and 1950. Retail is supposed to be $119.93.

Here's a look at the cover art: http://www.classicflix.com/lone-ranger-seasons-november-a-341.html?osCsid=9f8038b7bc56208b0723fef0b7d41593

Also, there wil be a *Forgotten Film Noir Collector's Set Vol. 4* coming from VCI, containing 3 DVDs, except it is now called *Forgotten Noir & Crime*. The price will be $29.99. Unlike previous collector's sets in the series of Forgotten Film Noir, these titles will not be available individually.

The titles are:

Counterspy Meets Scotland Yard (1950)

Radar Secret Service (1950)

Motor Patrol (1950)

Mr. District Attorney (1941)

Western Pacific Agent (1950)

Highway 13 (1948)

Treasure of Monte Cristo (1951)

Roaring City (1949)

Sky Liner (1949)

Stars include: Peter Lorre, Dennis O'Keefe, Adele Jergens, Tom Neal, Hugh Beaumont, Ralph Byrd, Bobby Jordan and Amanda Blake.

Classicflix.com has the cover art and details about the individual titles:

Previously mentioned here were *The PInk Panther Ultimate Collection* and the *Hollywood Musicals* set from MGM/Fox. Here's the cover art:

http://digitalbits.com/#mytwocents

I definitely do not like the art and design for the musicals collection.
