I'm putting together an alphabetical list of upcoming classic film releases on DVD & Blu-ray _and_ the dates they were first mentioned here with two hopes in mind:

1. People can go to the date of the post to read up on a title

2. So that a certain poster who will go nameless (okay, you know I mean CelluloidKid), can see at a glance if something has been posted already and he can avoid his duplicate posts.

I will periodically update the list and move it to the top so we can stay up to date.

I figured I better do it before we get more duplicate info from CK. (I figure the upcoming D.W. Griffith Masterworks vol. 2 set containing "Abraham Lincoln" and others will likely be his next mentions (though the info was posted here back on 9/13.))

Think this was mentioned earlier, but we didn't have much details about extra features:

Like the recent Abbott and Costello mega set, The Little Rascals are getting a wonderful new treatment with *The Little Rascals: The Complete Collection* arriving in October from Genius Products and RHI Entertainment.

The collection will include eighty shorts from the gang along with audio commentaries, interviews with the Rascals, introductions, early Hal Roach shorts, the featurettes The Story of Hal Roach and Our Gang, "The Rascals" and Racial Issues and Catching up with "The Rascals". In addition to these features, the box set also comes with a book and lobby cards.

I can't imagine a more complete collection for The Little Rascals. The set will be priced at $89.95 when it arrives on October 28th.

From Barrie Maxwell's column over at digitalbits.com:

Fox has confirmed that it continues to work on a restoration of 1933's *Cavalcade* and that *Man Hunt*, the 1941 drama about a hunter's efforts to kill Hitler, will have its release timed to appear with the theatrical release of the new Tom Cruise film *Valkyries* (also about a plot to kill Hitler and currently set for release in late December of this year). The often-requested title *Viva Zapata* is also high on Fox's priority list, but remains entangled in a legal dispute.

Brian Maxwell also had this to offer today under upcoming items:

(I've skipped the mentions of the *Murnau/Borzage* box set and the *Griffith vol. 2* because they have already been listed here.)

"Legend Films will have four releases on October 21st - *Bride of the Monster (1956), Creature from the Haunted Sea (1961), The Devil Bat (1940), and Phantom Planet* (1961). All will be single-disc releases containing both restored B&W and colourized versions.

The Milton Caniff Estate through its website (stevecanyondvd.blogspot.com) will be releasing the complete 1958-59 live action Steve Canyon TV series on DVD beginning on November 18th with *The Complete Steve Canyon on TV: Volume One.* It will contain the first 12 episodes in their correct running order with some accompanied by audio commentaries. Some 60-90 days later, Volume Two will be released (the next 12 episodes with some commentaries) and a further 60-90 days after that, Volume Three is planned (the final 10 episodes with some commentaries). Although the first two volumes will have some other extras, the third volume will also contain the bulk of the supplementary content for this endeavor. For the time being, the releases will only be available through the website noted above.

Timeless Media will release *Wagon Train - Going West* on October 7th. It will be a three-disc set containing 12 black and white episodes from the popular Wagon Train TV series. These particular episodes star John McIntyre as the wagon boss, with guest appearances by the likes of Leonard Nimoy, Jane Wyatt, Brian Keith, Janice Paige, Dennis Hopper, Eddie Albert, and Dean Jones. Following on November 4th is Wagon Train: The Complete Color Season. This will be a 16-disc set containing the 32 90-minute color episodes from the series' 7th season plus a selection of 16 episodes from the other seasons (all black and white). New interviews with series regulars Robert Fuller and Denny Scott Miller will be included."

(I've also not included the info he had on Fo*rgotten Noir and Crime vol. 4* because I posted that a few weeks back.)

Man Hunt, the 1941 drama about a hunter's efforts to kill Hitler, will have its release timed to appear with the theatrical release of the new Tom Cruise film Valkyries (also about a plot to kill Hitler and currently set for release in late December of this year).

Thank you for posting such good news, Film Fatale. I've been waiting for this Fritz Lang film to land on DVD.

Aye, good news for Fritz Lang fans. I just hope the new version won't be a total disappointment.

I think the wait will be well worth it. I've only taken a very quick look at the 20th Anniversary edition of *Beetlejuice* on DVD, and it's nice to know they finally made a decent transfer of the movie (the previous transfer apparently dated back to the early days of DVD). Now it looks about as good as a 20-year-old movie can look, I guess. Kinda nice that they also included a music-only track, which I'm sure the BR will have as well.

No, but I saw the item listed yesterday elsewhere and figured I wouldn't bother mentioning it here since there have been several MP Megasets in past years, one with all the episodes of the series, other with that and the Hollywood Bowl appearances. I figure this is just a reissue for Christmas.

If anyone cares *Iron Man* finally comes out this Tuesday and several stores have exclusive editions , I like the Best Buy one myself, I think Target and Fye have Steelbook editions. This movie arguably could be the best superhero movie made yet from Marvel's heroes..

Just wanted to mention it - this Tuesday ! Finally :) !

I know you are all waiting for my review of the Sleeping Beauty Blu-ray ("Honey, I will be to bed shortly, but I just want to wait another hour to see if filmlover has posted his review yet."), but as I won't get it until it comes out next week, I thought I would point out that dvdbeaver.com has an excellent review and comparison of the DVD and the Blu editions with screenshots. And each edition looks to be fully loaded:

Edition Details not previously mentioned:

Disc One

*Music & More: "Once Upon A Dream" music video performed by Hannah Montana's Emily Osment, who updates the song with a pop rock beat

* Disney Song Selection: Instantly access your favorite songs from the movie

* Backstage Disney includes audio commentary for the film (John Lasseter, film critic Leonard Maltin, and Disney animator Andreas D?ja), Princess Fun Facts (pop-up trivia fact option while watching the movie) (subtitles available for commentary on the Blu-ray),

* Trailers/promos for other Disney films, including the upcoming theatrical release "Princess & The Frog" and the next Platinum Edition DVD release; "Pinocchio."

Extras on Disc 2:

Games & Activities:

? "Sleeping Beauty" Fun With Language Game. This one is definitely for VERY young children who must identify the most basic of words using visuals from the film.

Backstage Disney:

? Eyvind Earle: The Man and His Art (7:33)

? 8 Art Galleries, including visual design, character development, storyboards, publicity, and a detailed look at the Storybook featured in the film's opening,

? Publicity features 3 trailers (teaser, original 1959, and 1995 re-release)

? Live-action reference footage. See three of the black and white films that were shot to aid the animators.

The Blu-ray release has the Grand Canyon short in HD, as well as the Peter Tchaikovsky segment. The Blu-ray also has a bonus in that it also contains a third disc, which is the first disc of the DVD set, so you have the movie in standard DVD, too. For the $5 difference in price, the Blu is a better deal as you then have the Blu-ray version ready for when you decide to go high def and the kids can have the standard DVD for their room.

Thanks for the scoop, film lover, do you have a link to this news? I looked on the site and couldn't find it. I would be interested in double dipping if there is indeed a remaster coming out of all, tho at this point we'd really prefer a BR, of course!. I wonder if they are just taking the Frank Capra box set remasters (which were an upgrade from the "Columbia Classics" released prior), and putting them in individual sets?
